There are /z to write to zone chat, /group to write to group chat, /guild# to write to certain guilds, but what I am missing is to be able to write to all my friends.

ZOS pls add /f chat command for that!!

I really like this idea of being able to send communication to all of my friends. But there are some real barriers to being able to set it up as a chat channel for back-and-forth communication.

The chat channels rely on the membership lists being the same for everyone in that channel. Guild chat works the way it does because everyone in has the same membership list for each guild. Zone chat, /s and /y are location based membership lists, everyone in the defined range is in the same chat.

Friend lists are different for each person. If I send a message to my /f list that I need to fill a raid dps spot, and someone replies, how would the reply work? If it went to the /f channel, it would reply to his friends list, not mine. It would almost have to come back to me as a /t, which would hen put me into several private conversations.

I can't think of any good solutions for that.

That would be cool OP. You get an insightful!

In all seriousness though, more QoL stuff in general would be nice. They are getting better about that slowly but surely though, so I won't complain. Most recently Transmutation and Trait Tacker. Keep stuff like that coming ZoS and in ways that aren't P2W like you have been.

^^ Basically this. There is no clean way to implement it. Though logically a series of private chats wouldn't be that bad, but still annoying.

Or an /i command to write to everyone on your Ignore list, knowing they'll never be able to respond. >:)

I know a game where in addition to guilds there are also shared chat lists with no other functionality than that. No ranks, access to anything, bonuses, tracking achievements and locations, etc. Just a chat list people could be invited to. The issue with this is that ZOS has said they capped guilds at five because of the strain of keeping up with 2500 other players, but, if it's just a chat list, that might be possible.

Please no. With 100 friends list I have had 40+ all online on a certain time this would get chaotic in a hurry. I don't want anymore spams or convos that I already have going. Invite all your friends into the same guild.

What I ould love to see is non guild related chat where different people can join by typing command in chat window which will add another chat for them and they'll be able to spaak via this chat with other people who joined it. That solution was great in SWTOR where guild limitations was an issue so people could create closed chat groups outside of guilds working similarly to guild chats but not requiring beeing guild member just chat group member.

No thank you. I'm sure this would be great if everyone on your friends list is an actual friend and/or part of the same social circle, but that is not the case for me. I don't want LFG, WTB or WTS spam.

I think it would be a better choice to have custom channels. The channels can be interest related. In SWTOR we had raid channels like this that were created by players.

I think the reason Zos has not done such a thing is because we have 5 guilds we can join.

The issue with doing this using the friends list is the interests can vary. Basically if I had 100 on my friends list I would be part of 100 special channels and that could get a little overwhelming and would certainly he dropping some from my friends list if it became annoying.
