I am so tired of losing bounties I cannot afford to keep paying because some dipbleep left stealable loot right in front of an NPC I need to talk to. It's annoying as bleep and I don't want to have to install YET ANOTHER addon to do what you could do in the game. PLEASE. I will take full blame for accidental Ultimates in the marketplace but ffs help prevent me from stealing when I'm not trying to!
It's annoying no doubt - and almost purposely so because they usually scatter a lot of useless items that are easy to accidentally steal in front of every guild trader and NPC market place.
Part of me actually thinks ZOS is trolling us with it.
What they should do is just give you a chance to cancel the steal like you can when stealing items from inside pots and dressers etc.
The mechanic would naturally be one that can be toggled on and off, like the one that prevents attacking innocents. It wasn’t necessary, but convenient for players that didn’t want to get run out of town every time they accidentally left-clicked near an NPC. This should be seen under the same light.
major major difference in attacking innocents and taking a random staff. same light? not even the same sun.
take some responsibility for your actions and dare i say, learn to play. then you wont be nicking things in plain sight.
i think ZOS have far better things to spend their time on than dealing with this.

Isn't there an option to not auto-loot stolen items? I am quite sure there is. If you click E twice...well...
Edit: Oh you meant the items that are lying around at the merchants. Yes, those don't have a prompt like containers have. I agree with you therefore.
This is brilliant. They should make it so there’s a toggle to only steal while sneaking.
