Logged on to PTS today for first time, was expecting that long initial load screen you get after a patch. Much to my amazement, the screen went faster than a normal load screen on Live, so kudos to ZOS on the performance increase there.

Also noticed my latency was back to the normal 70-90 I usually get, it has been inching up gradually since about March and then I was one of those hit with the big latency spikes every minute or so over the summer. Hope this means that has been fixed and will still hold true once it goes Live.

FPS ranged from mid 60s to mid 90s! Nice, But... my graphics card fan was screaming! Any chance we can get an option to cap the FPS?

Easiest would be a toggle to cap at 60 fps, but a slider ranging from 30 to say 120, with sliding all the way to the end enabling unlimited would be nice too.

Ally Effects

Couldn't find this in the Patch Notes, but while looking for an FPS cap setting I stumbled upon a setting to override the change in the last update that removes the display of ally ability effects. Located at the very bottom of the graphics setting, "Show Additional Ally Effects" "Displays all persistent ally offensive abilities when in dungeon and overland zones. Disabling this may increase performance." It is disabled by default.

Haven't tried it to know if it functions yet though.

You can already cap the fps, You use the video setting "vsync" which caps it at 60.

Everybody without a gsync or freesync monitor/tv should be using vsync to avoid screen tearing anyway.

Edit: The particle effects count limit should also limit ally effects as well as your own from becoming too much. From previous game history I have mine capped around 1000.

A better option than v-sync is to use the 'set minframetime' (sorry I may have the exact name wrong) in the settings.ini file. Use 1/x where "x" is the maximum fps you want to get the setting you want.

V-sync can cause half-framerates if you go below your monitors refresh rate. And if you use triple buffering to compensate you can get input lag.
