Does anybody on these forums play the game for fun?

Just a quick glance over the thread titles seems like an exercise in futility. No one seems to like the classes, the skills, the weapons, the synegys, or the way the game is being run. I can find threads on people complaining about the set up/gear/skills that somebody else is using, the game being down or being maintained. People posting threads about a particular delve, trial or battleground that is unfair. New players are evil, people trying to learn are idiots, and that guy who beat you in a duel was obviously cheating. Oh, and the dev are lazy, stupid and shouldn't even have a job. Today I even found a thread where someone complained that international players didn't understand spoken English with perfection.

This is a game. It is supposed to be fun, relaxing, and entertaining. Why doesn't anyone post about how awesome that other player is, or what you learned today that will make the game more productive for you? Why doesn't someone ever post about that time that ZOS responded to their concern and explained things? There were a tons of threads about the game being down in July, but I never did see a thread about the free crown crates everyone got.

TL;DR: Where can I find the people who like this game?

In the game. People mostly come to the forums to resolve a frustration or echo the frustrations of others. That's what it seems like a lot of the time anyway.

I feel ya. I try to go out of my way to post in the positive threads like ESO-related forum games or "show your ____" character threads, but I still get sucked into a lot of the negative ones too since they're so prevalent. I totally agree that the forum needs more happy.

Been playing since open beta, once I took a 2 month break, but other then that I have been here nightly. I couldn't do it if it wasn't fun ;) .

I mostly play alone, yet team up with my wife or random people from time to time. I do what I feel like when I feel like it, be it farming, dungeons, telvar stone gathering, running around just killing stuff, crafting, cripes, SO MUCH TO DO, and having fun all the while. Hey, I even do the arena in the gold coast just for the fun of it, who needs the mission?

YES, I play for fun :)

I play for fun, I used to be one of the bitter people who complained about everything, then I realised there was more to life than a single video game.

Now I just take ESO for what it is, sure I have my issues with it and I do express them but I am not going to make myself miserable by picking every fault with ESO and bashing on it. Would rather find the good bits I love and just do that.

I play on NA and European Servers. I am neither in these countries but somewhere near Singapore. I play for fun because I like this type of game. Since I am a Retiree I played for hours a day since I bought this game 2 years ago. On the average I play 6-8 hrs per day. I think I am addicted to this game. I enjoy this game very much. It keeps me entertained and a distraction from negative thoughts. While I am playing I also feel relaxing.

TL;DR: Where can I find the people who like this game?

    Hopefully playing the game.

When the game stops being fun and enjoyable for me, I'll quit it and find another that does. So far, playing since early access, two accounts, 14 characters on one, not quite 14 on the other, maxed crafting skills on multiple characters, completed 9 trait research, and finishing the main quests multiple times, I'm still playing and having fun. [and avoiding pvp like the plague]

There were threads about the free crown crates, and the newest lowest milestone, not being able to buy the super special sparkle snowflake apex mounts for gems, for the rngesus crates. I believe that a few of them were moved to the Crown Store forum. Although there was at least one on the general forum from someone who spent a thousand dollars and got none of the super special sparkle snowflake mounts.

When I started playing I found a wonderful guild that was and is still very helpful. They made the game a lot more enjoyable. I try to pay that forward by answering questions, making gear for new players, and lending a hand when a new player finds out that world bosses might not be that easy to take down solo when you're still wearing your coldharbor jammies. I also explain that my playing style is fun for me, but might not suit anyone else, especially the people who do the min/maxing to get that last .000001% of damage. Game still fun for me, I play. Game not fun for me, I stop playing.

I'm all about fun man, if it looses the fun I'm no longer playing.
Sadly ZOS have moved in a challenging direction path and get fun out of its window and only pleases the elites players instead of the mass player who just want to enjoy the game and have fun.
Dlc trials even on normal, new DLC dungeons all heading to hardest ever path, I'm not going to play them when I know it's going to be fraustrating for hours long, that's not fun, it's only fun for ZOS developers to watch on twitch and laugh at us.

Enjoying or liking a thing isn't all-or-nothing. People come here to discuss problems. If we didn't like the game, we wouldn't care if there were problems.

People DO post more positive threads. They don't stay on the front page as long because there is no urgency to them. It's also just human nature that things that are working well become invisible to us (thought about your plumbing lately, or your city's infrastructure?) It's just how we're wired.

I hate seeing topics like this. Just think about it for five seconds. Why would anyone come to the forums to praise the game? What does anyone get out of that? How much room for discussion is there? Not much. It's unnecessary and a waste of time. People come here to discuss issues with the game in hopes that they're eventually resolved. There wouldn't be so many of the same complaints if the developers ever actually dealt with these issues. Issues like the faded vampire tattoos should not still be present 3 years into the game's lifespan. It makes them look lazy and incompetent.

its usually different people being frustrated with different issues. they tend to like and have fun with some aspects but not others. and sometimes they both love something and are frustrated by it.

case in point. i adore housing in this game. like... to the point of near obsession. I love most aspects of it to pieces.. except... furnishing limits, ever increasing crown store exclusive items (especially books), how frustratingly expensive dwemmer frames and furniture can be, due to low drop rate and that thing that items do sometimes where you arrange it just right and when you hit place, it turns. on its own. and when you try again, it does it again. usually have this issue with building blocks.

now all of the above issues aside? I still love housing to pieces. I would just.. love it even more if above issues were resolved. you know

its possible to both have fun with something and be frustrated by it. at the same time.

^ seriously. OP, are you really just now figuring out that forum discussions are for fixing the problems with a game we love?

If we didn't enjoy the game, we wouldn't discuss its flaws and how to improve it. We wouldn't need to bother; we would simply not play instead.

Every so often, someone has to come on here and make a post like this one. I may be wrong, but I see it as little more than a way to express one's superiority to the perceived "negativity" of others. And like most of the the things we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel better than others, it's basically dishonest.

I love everything about the game except a few simple fixes.

    1. Low levels need to be tiered to que into dungeons. Some level 13s just aren’t ready for ‘harder’ dungeons. Have them unlock from easy to most difficult every couple levels while players learn and when level 50 they can que for all and the veteran versions.
    2. More variety when ‘random queing.’ Hot topic here lately. Sick of WGT, ICP, DSC.....just the same rotating 3 every time I random que. Get rid of random que and make it so the first dungeon a day is 100k and the rest are 33k. Let us choose what we want. Give us better filters of who we want to run with and what we want to run.
    3. Better styles for men. They all look the same.
    4. Hide psn to get rid of stalkers.
    5. Hide psn
    6. Hide psn
    7. Hide psn
    8. Oh.....hide psn.

*raises hand* I love this game! I rarely, if ever, post in complaint threads. And I disagree with the people who think the forums are just for complaints/fixes. I believe the forums are for so much more than that. The forums are, also, for sharing your love of the game, your experiences in the game, your characters, etc, etc, etc. The forums are, also, for getting help and learning things you didn't know about the game.

I DO believe some of the complaints are valid but some people really go overboard with the whining.

I enjoy the game very much. Granted, I think some changes are in order, but I really have nothing to complain about.

Some players do bring up good points. However, many threads are complaining about skills they die to or make it challenging for them to kill someone. Instead of figuring out how to handle things they just complain about it. Few of them are the stronger players in PvP.

    I play for fun.

I come to the forums for 2 reasons..

One, its one of the few sites that are not blocked on my work pc.

Two, I am hoping to catch the people who post "open letters" about quitting and ask for all of their stuff.

I love this game...have invested countless hours and an embarrassing amount of $$$ in it... I rarely complain about the state of the game (balance, nerf, buffs, etc...)...

I'm of the attitude that you roll with the punches that are thrown and you adapt to the changes (which are seen in all MMO's)...and when i no longer feel that my time and $ are being spent wisely, which happened in WoW and Neverwinter...I'll just move on and have fond memories of the game...

Though I have been known to get salty about some QoL issues... ;)

The game is about 90% positive.
This forum is about 40%-50% negative. (Yes, I pulled those statistics out of my rear. I'm not going to do a scientific count, here.)
Or at least that's the way it seems to me. People like to come to the forums to moan. Sometimes people post positive threads, and end up getting bullied because God forbid they aren't being negative enough about Zenimax. I've seen that happen several times.

I play the game for fun and mostly ignore the forums, except when a new patch is coming and I want to voice any concerns.
I want the game to get more fun, or stay as fun as is. Sadly, a lot of new things are more grind.

Anybody remember when they introduced Glass motifs and how those are still messed up? They still use part of that system.
That's the kind of stupid decisions I try to speak out against and why I come here.

I play for fun, but sadly this game has mandatory updates that change my fun into something I don't recognize if I don't speak out.

Believe it ir not, about 18 months ago, this forum was much more negative than it is now.

With that said, your post could be populated in any and every MMO forum ever. The toxicity floates to the top really quick. Especially since forums have so many trolls. Troll posts get clicks for the same reason cleverly worded news articles get clicks.

No matter where you go or what you do, it is human nature to be more vocal about what we don't like than what we do like.

We don't think twice about complaining to a store manager if a staff member is rude to you but not many people make the same effort to give them positive feedback. For some reason if someone is doing something well, they are simply 'doing their job' and we don't think much about it - but watch out if we think their performance is sub par.

I have enjoyed the game pretty much for all of the 2 years I have been playing and if I start a thread on the forums it is because something is bugging me, or something is not working as well as I think it should or could. I figure that is pretty much the norm here, most of us do, or have, enjoyed the game most of the time and are just guilty of being human.
