I've been playing for at least over two years, and I'm still horrible.

But I'm horrible at everything in life. So eso isn't really out of the ordinary for me there..

I've been here in some level of activity since launch and still only consider myself above average as a player.

Much of the being "good" at the game is just understanding mechanics and getting builds and rotations down, all stuff you can learn if you spend the time watching or reading some guides.

The only hold back for me is I suck with my rotations and I have some physical limitations to how much I can light attack spam. However with knowledge of what skills to use and getting myself perfect gear I can still hit 20-25k DPS which is enough for most of the games content.

    ^ So much this. ^

I've been playing for 3 years and I am just average or, maybe slightly below average. I can solo dolmens and public dungeons but NOT world bosses and NOT pledge vet or normal dungeons. I never blame the healer when I die because I know who's fault it really is! lol

I can't get the hang of weaving and rotation and all the math involved in being 'the best' hurts my head. I don't play games for math. :p

haven't been playing that long but I can whoop some mud crabs.
I can get 20-25k dps, and I've done every vet dlc dungeon. But how to get much more dps than that is still a mystery to me.

Some days, I'm the guy who ends up sole survivor alone with Velidreth, and picks up the rest of the group and win. Other days, I'm the guy who dies multiple times just at the edge of Kragh's aoe and makes people think I got my 700cp on eBay.

Im playing since ca. 1 1/2 years and do only 13-15k (main Bow, back DW) so im a bad player. :#

People need to know what they are buying before actually buying it... Most of the people giving bad reviews to the game are people that didnt knew this game was an MMO, or people that doesnt know how to play MMOs.

There's nothing the game can do for them... In MMOs people suppose to learn by playing and after 600cp, you expect that player at least know the basics...

Ok no im not new to MMOs in fact im playing MMOs since over 12 years. And in all the other MMOs i was raiding in end contend and have fun in PVP. But in ESO i just dont get it, no soft caps, no Explanation from stats, ac, many item sets, Campion Points (no balancing).

All this legendary BiS gear and I can't even kill a mudcrab.

ZOS pls nerf everything more. Need less counters and more uncounterable, high-damage spammables.

Spamming one button takes too much brain. It's like rocket surgery. Halp! :'(

I'm playing for almost six months now, mostly doing delves alone, not feeling ready for groups so far and anyway more interested in crafting & exploring than slaughtering ;)

What I like are public dungeons, you sometimes meet nice people and almost automatically help each other to get out successfully.

I should maybe find a guild with more people like me B)

I don't know what to choose ... I do know that at lvl 37 I do feel like I'm finally getting better ... soloing has gotten easier since I started wearing crafted seducers and a few pieces of Magnus. I make a new suit every 5-6 levels and juice it up with magika enchants, eat purple food and feel the power :0)

The only trouble I have is my rotation... when I get into trouble I still find it hard to switch bars to the one with my "emergency heal" on it. but there's just not enuff room for it on both bars

I'm... decent, I'd say. Sure, I mess up my weapon swaps a lot and when I choose a race and a class I'd always go for looks, never for what is optimal. I know I will never be one of the top players that can pull insane amounts of dps and do the hardest content in their sleep and that is just fine with me. I have neither the mindset nor the ambitions to be at the top. I don't really struggle with anything I want to do in the game, can solo some group dungeons if need be but have also found a nice community in the game I enjoy playing with and in general I play to have fun, not to be among the best. That might be the definition of fun for others, for me it is not.

i'm okay with pve stuff...it usually comes down to how much patience I have...

pvp is where I normally measure my progression...at times though the frustrating thing there is my altoholism making it difficult...

combat against other players is a poor time to try to remember your gear, abilities and rotations...

different characters have different playstyles...going from a heavy armor stam dk to a light armor mag sorc can be tough sometimes...

I'm not to good.....a little slow, forgetful, and older (I'm 67). I play with the left side of an xbox controller using left hand fingers, and a game mouse with my right hand......I really can't use the keyboard for much. In dungeons I use voice chat almost always.

Very good dps for me is around 20-24,000 dps on a boss.....30-70,000 dps on large mobs (stamina sorc). My guild is 40 years old, and older only so( they think I'm pretty good LOL). I have played for 4 years and don't expect to get much better or have the best gear.....that's OK though as long as I'm having fun!

Been playing MMO's since Ultima Online. Nothing really changes. Every game as the same character archtypes: Tank, DPS, Heals. Learn the classes, learn dungeon mechanics, level up...It's ALL the same, no matter what game you're playing.

    What I've played:
    • Ultima Online
    • Everquest
    • Dark Age of Camelot
    • World of Warcraft
    • Lineage II
    • Rift
    • Elder Scrolls Online
    • Elder Scrolls - Skyrim (what brought me to ESO)
    • Istaria (formerly Horizons)
    • Earth & Beyond (Discontinued)
    • Archeage
    • Star Wars The Old Republic
    • Allods Online
    • The Secret World (now 'The Secret World - Legends')

The only thing that changes are the characters, abilities, and scenery. Still need groups, which consist of a tank, healer, and 2-3 DPS. Learn your class, dungeon mechanics, level up...Rinse & Repeat.

Pretty much sums it up for me also. I have played these type of games since EQ. All of them I was a better player than I am in ESO. In a couple of them I was very good, especially in PvP

Not so much in ESO. Love the game but am horrible in pvp. In pve I struggle with the animation cancelling and optimizing everything to get max dps. As long as the mob dies, and I don't, I'm happy. I don't care that it takes 20 seconds to kill something when others kill it in 16 seconds.

I only run into trouble when I try and be competitive just for the sake of it. That's when frustration can seep in. If I just plug along doing quests, delves, publics and exploring with alts I am fine.

For once, I'll call biased poll, because that is -really- badly done.

Secondly, believe you me, I've seen people with the legendary gear that cant clear basic dungeons. I've seen it. Repeatedly. I've seen max CP's get frustraited and leave because they feel attacked because people wouldn't let them hard cast crystal fragments.

I've seen people get frustraited and leave because they didn't understand why nobody was leting them tank despite not slotting taunt.

I've seen DPS get angry the tank was yelling at them because they had frost staff.

And this is the -only- game I have seen these problems on this scale in.

This is the MMO with most newbies to the genre, I've seen in a long time... And it has to be because of the Elder Scrolls theme...

If you see most the new MMOs, the community are mostly people who came from other MMOs, so they actualy understand the basics of the genre.

Here, the community are mostly people who came from Single Player RPGs or console games. They have no idea wtf is an MMO from the start. Prove of this is that people claiming this game need a tutorial from the start to explain new players what is an MMO and HOW you suppose to play an MMO (pretty much something that not other game of the genre have explain before, you suppose to learn by playing)...

And yet the game hasn't adapted to that.

Hence the situation we have now. The game is suffering the issue that almost every brand game has suffered.

But this wouldn't be an issue if they didn't keep buffing the content.

Adapted to what? To people who doesnt understand that this game is MMO?

People need to know what they are buying before actually buying it... Most of the people giving bad reviews to the game are people that didnt knew this game was an MMO, or people that doesnt know how to play MMOs.

There's nothing the game can do for them... In MMOs people suppose to learn by playing and after 600cp, you expect that player at least know the basics...

Obviously, given the proof we keep seeing, that expectation is unreasonable.

And adapt to the audience it keeps geting, not the audience it -wants-. If the game stopped trying to be a hardcore players paradise it'd do better at buisness, and be a better game for it.

I guess being "good" is pretty subjective...

XBNA...started on launch...quit...b/c game was shite...played Neverwinter...until I couldn't stand the P2W no more...came back for SoTH...have played WoW, FFXIV, SWTOR and EQ previously...

I can solo most non dlc dungeons on normal(ones that don't have a mech that prevents soloing) on my magplar, magsorc, stamsorc, magdk, stamdk, magblade, and stamblade...have not tried on my stamplar who just reached lvl 50...and I couldn't imagine doing it on my stamden... Can solo most world bosses...

Don't know how I stack up in vet group content since on console...we don't have the add ons to see individual parses...but no-one's complained so far whether I'm on DPS or Heals...haven't really tried tanking in vet content...

Have not attempted vMA...waiting until I get the trial gear set that I need...(e.g. VO)...

I haven't really been concerned with DPS parse...but that's fine with me since I use dummy to tighten up my rotations...which usually goes to *** anyway when I'm doing content...especially when I'm solo...

Never been on a leaderboard...which I see as a prerequisite to be considered "good"... so I guess under my definition of being a "good" player...I am not...but I enjoy this game immensely...more than any other MMO I've ever played before...

Edit: I also suck balls in PVP...
