Anyone else play this game for long time and not very good at it

I've been here in some level of activity since launch and still only consider myself above average as a player.

Much of the being "good" at the game is just understanding mechanics and getting builds and rotations down, all stuff you can learn if you spend the time watching or reading some guides.

The only hold back for me is I suck with my rotations and I have some physical limitations to how much I can light attack spam. However with knowledge of what skills to use and getting myself perfect gear I can still hit 20-25k DPS which is enough for most of the games content.

Some bosses are just rough. I'm good at the old content, enough to get through some pretty cool stuff I think. But, the new stuff feels punishing sometimes.

Well I can beat vet dlc dungeons but I rely on other good players not the best just good.

My dps is at 26k with gold out gear and lots of practice. If you ask any pve player on the forums that's crap lol

PvP I do okay I die a lot I win some in the middle

Duels is about 50/50

Point being after more then 3 years of playing I hit my skill lvl cap and have not improved at all. I do well and can clear everything but throw me into a pug I can't carry anyone.

I've played on and off since 2014 launch and have never had much interest in PvP, Veteran Dungeons, or Trials. I love ESO because you can enjoy an immense amount of content without being a min-maxxing theorycrafter. Most MMOs cater solely to that crowd. ESO stands alone in that you can enjoy all kinds of content and snazzy looking armor without playing that kind of content. I enjoy all of the quest lines, some amounts of normal dungeons, and most of all roleplaying.

Done Falkreath Hold, my only veteran dlc, helped that it was new so we all had to learn tactic, an epic wipe feast, went trough a lot of repair kits but did it.

I know the mechanics of most dungeons really well, its ignoring them that gets me. I did CoS with 3 players who were new to it. I would explain all the mechanics in each section before we went through,and it was a breeze. I took time to explain everything about the Velidreth fight and answered questions. The fight goes well, people grabbed the lights, ignored adds running back. Then Velidreth says "Don't Move a Muscle". The NEW players all stand still then dodge roll when she drops. The 879 CP Tank (me) didn't stand still and died. Someone managed to rez me, but I certainly felt stupid after taking all that time to carefully explain what to do.

I concider Myself ''normal'' at PvE (25k dps, anyone below that is a bad player for me; anyone above that is a good player). But I concider myself ''good'' for PvP, I main a MagBlade, my K/D Ratio in small scale (BGs, IC) is really really good, no idea if this will change after we get CP BGs

Well, been playing ESO since 2015 and I have only 560 CP, can do a 22k dps on a 3m dummy and I can make 500k gold a week, but I'm horrible at PvP - so yeah, I feel like I'm not very good on this game. I have only once beaten vet WGT HM (and the last time I tried with guildies was horrible) and I haven't been in other DLC dungeons. Never have I ever been in a vet trial run and I have chickened out multiple times from VMA.

Secondly, believe you me, I've seen people with the legendary gear that cant clear basic dungeons. I've seen it. Repeatedly. I've seen max CP's get frustraited and leave because they feel attacked because people wouldn't let them hard cast crystal fragments.

I've seen people get frustraited and leave because they didn't understand why nobody was leting them tank despite not slotting taunt.

I've seen DPS get angry the tank was yelling at them because they had frost staff.

And this is the -only- game I have seen these problems on this scale in.

This is the MMO with most newbies to the genre, I've seen in a long time... And it has to be because of the Elder Scrolls theme...

If you see most the new MMOs, the community are mostly people who came from other MMOs, so they actualy understand the basics of the genre.

Here, the community are mostly people who came from Single Player RPGs or console games. They have no idea wtf is an MMO from the start. Prove of this is that people claiming this game need a tutorial from the start to explain new players what is an MMO and HOW you suppose to play an MMO (pretty much something that not other game of the genre have explain before, you suppose to learn by playing)...

And yet the game hasn't adapted to that.

Hence the situation we have now. The game is suffering the issue that almost every brand game has suffered.

But this wouldn't be an issue if they didn't keep buffing the content.

I have to be in the mood. For example I went for the first time into the White Tower alone. Well I didn't get too far. That's fine, another time I might try again. To be honest I found dodging in GW2 more exiting then here. Maybe because it used a different resource or perhaps I found it more responsive. But I'm horrible at everything in life. So eso isn't really out of the ordinary for me there..

Adapted to what? To people who doesnt understand that this game is MMO?

People need to know what they are buying before actually buying it... Most of the people giving bad reviews to the game are people that didnt knew this game was an MMO, or people that doesnt know how to play MMOs.

There's nothing the game can do for them... In MMOs people suppose to learn by playing and after 600cp, you expect that player at least know the basics...

I consider myself a passable player and I have been here since beta, my guild has the philosophy of collective knowledge so the information that I need is available when I need it and I'm always available to help someone out if they are missing knowledge I have.

it's an old school approach to gaming but it still works best.

I've been playing since launch and I know I'm well below average in terms of the amount of progress made (due both to having a lot of characters and running around doing odd things here and there, as well as spreading my time between different games in order to keep them fresh), but I hope pretty average in terms of ability in solo/cooperative non-competitive PvE content which is all I'm interested in. Still, I only have myself to please so my skill level is pretty irrelevant really just as long as I'm having fun !
