Pocket Technicians and Clockwork Targets

Khajiit has had a thought about this yes.

These metal people may be relieved of their possessions in the usual manner we are told.

They may not be targeted with the Blade of Woe. The justification for this was that they could still run around should their head become loosened from their shoulders - or indeed should any other parts be lost.

So what happens to the traditional Pocket Technician strategy of dip, dip, stab?

Will we not soon be in a city where all of the metal people are running around with empty containers? If we cannot Blade of Woe them then they cannot return with plentiful containers to be cleaned once more.

Were they human they could be disposed of in other ways but being metal people even if we hit them with swords and axes and bolts of lightning then according to the Blade of Woe logic they should still be running around, even if we chop off various body parts.

Actually thinking about it lightning should fry their circuits yes ...

Anyway Khajiit does not like pockets that are already empty when she arrives for work yes so she thought this was worth a mention.

Heh... I didn't think about that.

I guess we will have to incur the wrath of the guards and bounties by dismantling them in sight, or accept that pockets sometimes need time to full up again.

I think that the third item you pickpocket from them should be a vital part and cause them to shut down, then we wont have to worry about them being empty upon arrival, and we will have a way to kill them silently. In this way Tamriel's devoted pocket technicians could ply their trade in peace without fearing the scourge of empty pockets.

Assuming that they're similar to a dwemer construct, shouldn't they have some sort of energy storage (soul gem) in their body which can be shattered via the blade of woe?

Would also reward investment into pickpocketing to have the 3rd item always be green, maybe a dwemeri core?

The actual problem with that would be the new Blade of Woe animations needed to show the shattering of the storage or whatever. I suspect the necessary animation changes weren't realized until it was too late so they disabled the Blade of Woe which was much simpler to incorporate.

I will just kill them outright, take my bounty and vampire mist away! If I happen to get caught (which rarely happens), I will use my clemency. Nothing will stand in my way of pick, pick, kill.
