Question about levels in forums

I've been wondering this for the past year... what dictates someone's level here in the forums?
Gan Xing - Crafting Nightblade
Elrana Tinuviel - Hybrid Dragonknight
Elentári Peregrine - Sorcerer "bank"
Rán Xīng - Hybrid Templar
Laurïsil Imlachwen - Stamina Templar
Helotë Tinuviel - Hybrid/Magicka Warden
Odin banker - obv banker
Yan of the Red Mountain - lvl 3 DK - not sure when I will work on em

    Level of what?
    Current levels as in stars mean amount of posts in my eyes and does not determine any level of knowledge. Anyone can spam nonsense and gain more post count.

    I've been relatively active in forums for over 2 years, and yet am only at level 3 (and yes in stars). I've been theory crafting, assisting new players and the like, and was curious how the leveling system worked, cause I never bothered to look into it before.

    You can get several stars pretty quickly from making a bunch of posts, but I believe most of the stars come from people clicking "insightful", "agree", or "awesome" on your post.

    Its based on a point system, so sure you could eventually get lots of stars based on bad posts, but it's faster to gain points if you get lots of people to "rate" your post.

    Maybe look at ratio between comments and stars... or agrees... but for me that would be too much Mathz....

    A few factors.
    There's the achievement factor which requires you to complete a task for it and you'll be awarded forum points with it. For example, getting 100 "Agree"s will give you an achievement badge.
    Another factor is the amount of "Insightful"s, "Agree"s and "Awesome"s you are able to get from your posts.

    So the more you earn in both factors, the more forum points you'll get and the more star level you'll have.
    Now where's my "Insightful"s?
