What is this naming and shaming going on? I mean are we in kindergarten? How is this shaming? I would be proud of it if I could have that. So no shaming at all.

Also how is it shaming? If it was shaming the person wouldn't be using it in the game. I just don't understand. I mean if you are going to report, just report it, but to say you did so, just sounds so kindergarten.

I don't see why people are so up and arms against this lol. Half of EU raiding community has custom Titles. Here's mine

It's simply for fun, made possible by the efforts of add on authors who work hard everyday to make everyone's life in game that little bit simpler. No hacking/ nothing dodgy going on. It has nothing to do with elitism lol.

Highly doubtful. There are 5 or 6 files like that with 10 or 15 people in each file. The plugin is made by one person and maybe a helper/consultant plus maybe a previous developer if it was a hand-me-down. There7s no way 50 to 75 people are involved in that development. Chances are pretty good that they either contributed money, game gold, or are in-game team-mates slash guild-mates.

The one for the SkyShards also has about 30 or 40 people in it and that's also a 1-man development.

It more likely that it's a monitory exchange benefit of some sort.

I can't speak for all addon authors, but titles are not sold to players normally.

People that are friends with addon authors and play with them a lot have got titles that way.

Edit:
You should also appreciate that these addon authors spend a lot of time developing and maintaining addons with little to no reward, which is one of the whole reasons this custom titles library exists in the first place.

Yeah that's been going on for a while and the addon authors don't put it into their addon descriptions or anything. If you ask them they all say they "deserve" it. They can do it because there are so few of them left and some have addons that can't just be replaced. I just avoid addons that use that lib and the one's that use it that I can't avoid (which are basically just the skyshard and lorebook addons because they have the databases on the locations) I just go into the folder of the addon and delete the lib or change the txt that sets the libs to load. LibAnnyoingUpdateNotificationInGame will be deleted right with it, another "feature" some authors put into their addons without any kind of documentation. It does what the name says.

First of all, all those files are more or less the same. (some might be older versions, and not have all the same ones) It is a library, i.e. files made available for other authors to use. It is maintained by on person only (Ayantir) and many of the people in it are other add-on developers, or other people who have contributed in some way to the community. Some, are simply people who asked. None of them paid any money to get it; in fact, that would be against the TOS. However, some people might have sent in game gold as a donation. But that is completely voluntary.

I'd like to also point out that you will have many more copies of a file called libaddonmenu.lua.... does that mean 100s of ppl maintain it? No, it means one person does, and we all use the same files.
