Rainbow Character Title Text? How?

Here's a shot of it? I've never seen this before in the 6000 hours I've played the game. Anyone know how to get it or what it signifies?

I mean some games have color code text that works on names but, I've never tried in ESO. Is it an add on doing it?

Some addon authors (popular ones, of course, like Lorebooks, Skyshards... I forgot which ones) give certain players custom titles, or so I've heard. Addon author adds it to the code so everyone who uses that addon sees a special title on that player.
Raibow text is added via color codes, some guilds decorate MOTD with that. I believe there are online generators that give you the code.
Theres also an addon, but I dont know if it works.

Never heard of a queen of healing either and good to see others ping is nearly as terrible as mine.

Yeah, there are a couple addons that will convert one of the titles (Recruit, I think) to a custom string, when you encounter it on a specific character. So, the character you're seeing there has one of those custom titles.

Thing is, these are specific to an account. As in, the addon will check the @name, and if it matches a list baked into the addon, it will convert the Recruit title to something else.

If you mean changing the game's actual files, no. Absolutely wrong.

I have one of these titles, and it's because I signed on with a very particular mod author while they were trying out their idea on plugging custom titles tied to @names for anyone using the mod to see.

I haven't seen the color before, but I don't doubt it's easy to make that extra step.

As a point of pride and professionalism, said author refused to add any titles that were already ingame, or titles that were in bad taste in the ToS, or otherwise godmoding for role play.

No fake Emperors here, or at least, not through the most ubiquitous mods.

Back on topic I still don't see how one can enter "color codes" as there is nowhere to enter them. AFAIK the various titles have to be earned and are only available via an uneditable drop-down list. Right?

Go to your addon folder . Search for ''title'' . You will find something similar to ''CustomTitles'' . You can figure out rest if you go further in that folder .

Another way is , you can just delete that folder and you will see a lot more Volunteers ^^

Its volunteer. The addon that I am aware of basically requires other players to have extended LUI running. If other people are running extended LUI then they see the "custom" name/title, if they are not running ext LUI then they just see volunteer.

You can't personally edit it for everybody else to see. The author has to, and push it in an update for the main addon.

Because this way you'd only edit your copy of the addon, the original version on esoui will not change, so other people wont be able to see any new titles.

Its an addon, you use it and that player is either a developer of it or it might be related to that addon developer who made a custom title for it.

Highly doubtful. There are 5 or 6 files like that with 10 or 15 people in each file. The plugin is made by one person and maybe a helper/consultant plus maybe a previous developer if it was a hand-me-down. There7s no way 50 to 75 people are involved in that development. Chances are pretty good that they either contributed money, game gold, or are in-game team-mates slash guild-mates.

The one for the SkyShards also has about 30 or 40 people in it and that's also a 1-man development.

It more likely that it's a monitory exchange benefit of some sort.

Checked SkyShards.
Most of the names are addon authors of popular/great addons and a few theorycrafters. All in all ppl who contributed a lot to the community.
A few names i never heard before, but than, i never use the same accountname twice.

It's from RaidNotifier, as OP has found out.

However, don't get your hopes up about acquiring your own custom title; the addon authors aren't that keen on sharing that power with random strangers.

You can always create your own custom files with your own custom titles though, and have it displayed client-side on your end for any player. For me, I have mine replace the titles of people I hate with humourous insults, which work wonders to improve my mood.

And that is also why addon authors refuse to entertain random custom title requests: they have the power to defame, embarass, and harass pretty much anybody as long as their addons are popular enough, and for the sake of their integrity they don't want to risk that at all.

Though I feel that line has already been crossed; some guy has given himself an absurdly arrogant title. "The Almighty God" my scaly reptilian arse.

I block them using this addon - Disable Custom Titles.
