Because if they were to be added the entire game system would need to be adjusted to account for the vertical movement of flying mounts which would end up causing more havoc to the game than it would worth for the few people that want a flying mount.

Unless a game also has flying NPC enemies that will chase you down and engage you in arial combat, at ALL heights that you can fly to, adding flying mounts ruins a game.

I guess every so often a new player will come here wondering why ESO isn't exactly like other MMOs out there. These questions have been asked dozens of times and will be dozens of times more.

Having played WoW for many years before starting with ESO, all I can say is flying mounts ruin games. The whole open world gets completely irrelevant, as you simply fly over it without even noticing. It's also a great way to destroy open world PvP, but ESO dons't have that anyway. Yes, there are games specificity build around that, with a aerial combat system and other stuff like that, but ESO isn't one of those.

This is a dead horse, but whatever. Better beat a dead horse then leading ZOS to stupid ideas I guess.

All you folks think flying mounts are unpopular?? Right! Any game that sells them, they are highly used.

Don't be frightened. If flying mounts scare you just don't use them.

I would love flying mounts and the game could have them. Yes, it would be some work to be done right but would be really fun.

I think it's hilarious you find "Rage" & "Fear" in the responses to your "not gonna happen" query.
Yes, flying mounts, especially dragons are unpopular here. Dozens of polls have shown that.
Also, flying mounts of any kind would break lore, which TES & ESO is built on.
I normaly would write it off as you being a new player, but your not, so, troll thread maybe?
ZoS has spoken on this many times. It not happening, Thank Akatosh! We don't want a WoW clone, simple as that. No rage. No fear. Simple. Also........

No the game is not physically able to do flying due to horizontal mechanics vs vertical mechanics. It not set up for it. Don't believe me?
Check out~ ESO Live- Episode 17 (aired 05/08/2015). The dev's discuss this and why underwater adventuring can't and won't happen.

I'd be cool with mounts that didn't actually fly but just sort of hovered. Like a dominion eagle or something.

If you really want your flying mounts then try another MMO. ESO isn't built for it.

flying mounts didnt ruin that for wow. putting flight points every 20metres did.

i played vanilla wow. where i had to run across 3/4 of the map to get druid underwater shapeshifting. damn, that was an achievement. now it takes about 1 minute including loading screens. that ruined players missing content far more than flying mounts.

You can have a mount that hovers 2 inches of the ground, thats the most you will get or just re skin a horse to have no legs, no legs = flying mount ( sorta ) it will still have the running animation you just wont see the legs

Never say never, even when devs say never. There are other games that said that flying mounts would never happen, now it's the standard for traveling.

I don't think it's rage and fear so much as people are tired of the same conversations.

The forums search is showing four pages of threads with flying mounts in the name.

As others have said whilst some games do have are are suited for flying mounts, ESO is not. It would require a very large overhaul for a system which really isn't required due to wayshrines and travel to player options.

Zones would need to be reworked to connect to one another more closely and ideally allow for seamless transitions between them.

I enjoyed flying in other games but I don't want to see it here. The games mechanics and zones aren't setup for it and I'd rather not have them waste resources and time to do this. I'd rather see more new worthy content and bugs being fixed before flying mounts.

You want flying, go play WoW, EQ2 or something else. It won't happen here so stop beating the dead horse, it's had enough!

They are highly used because they are the best option then. They are not the best option though to put into the game. Once they are there people just fly over the rest of the world totally ignoring. If I was a dev I wouldn't want people to skip through all the content that took myself and team thousands of hours to create.

When you make systems like Dungeon Finder and Flying mounts where people just sit in town and fly past everything the game seems dead and empty.
