Why is penetration being foresaken?

We were told in the past to hit 18.4k penitration. With a 2k (ish) nerf to sharpened, new meta says to dump the remaining penetration from sharpened.

We have also ditched the 5% major slayer and the 1100 per sec illambris damage for a second 5 piece set. And a nirn weapon.

Is the damage difference really that significant?

Penetration isn't being forsaken. It's still important to hit the 18.4k cap or get pretty close to it. It's just now, with the nerf to sharpened weapons, the buff to other traits, and the increase to the CP cap, it's more efficient in an optimized situation to get to the cap through a combination of enemy debuffs and CP than it to do so through sharpene weapons.

Penetration is still important. Ihave a feeling that when You saying "new meta says" You mean "Alcast guides says" so if You would read his guides closely You would understand he's making those builds for himself which means for fully optimised teams where You have enough sources of penetration from group with decent uptimes.

It wasn't a nerf, they just reverted it back to what it was pre dark brotherhood.

So how are you guys hitting the penetration mark now? What group buffs and debuffs are you using now that we weren't using before?

Major fracture,minor fracture, Alkosh for some fights definitely not every fight unless off tank is providing, there is also a new set that provides 2500 spell penetration,and champ points.
