Does anyone here have that one armor set that you cant "get away" from?

I'm sure that there is a significant number of players that play this game that do as I do; you find a good, strong, build that fits your playstyle, but over the course of play, you sometimes test out other things in an attempt to improve your characters performance...

This often includes testing out differing armor sets...

Well, I am a big fan of the Combat Physician armor set, and over the course of play, I've tried many armor sets (Juliano's, Mothers Sorrow, Spell Power Cure, and many others) in place of it, but in the end I keep coming back to it as nothing else seems as good at the end of the day (the Damage Shield it provides is just too good given the rest of my build and playstyle)...

Does anyone else here experience this? And if so, what gear set is it that you have that you cant seem to "get away" from?

Vicious ophidian- before i really got into the game, just a few quests, i saw fengrush doing vma with the speed waves flowing behind him as he did steel tornadoes and everything. to me still the sexiest set in the game.

I don't think I would ever be able to heal without spellpower cure. It makes overheals useful and helps the entire group kill encounters faster.

I love using knight errant on my tank. I run that with ebon and 1 piece skeleton mask trying to get a master sword. That would be 3k health every time I taunt.

I know it's selfish and I could run another set but it looks so cool lol.

I use Treasure Hunter on my magplar. Even though I never see it in any builds, I can't get away from it.

Clever Alchemist. Good for burst damage. Has hp to survive opposing burst damage as you burst. Crafted, so easily available in whatever weight/traits you want. Works for both magicka and stamina. Can be used on back bar to get a 5/5/2 setup with 2h/bow or destro/resto.

It's a great set. I think people underestimate the power of not having to buff yourself every x seconds. I always think about the DPS lost while rebuffing myself. It's a hassle and waste of DPS if I buff too early or too late.

When I run Volenfell, no one else wants the Treasure Hunter so if they get any, they give it to me. It didn't take me long to get 5 decent pieces. I use it with Iceheart which procs off of crit damage so they work well together.

I saw this set during the One Tamriel update, and I found it very interesting to say the least. I kept trying to craft build using this set on my MagBlade, and after a few months of both working out the build and procrastinating, I bought a full set and tried it out

Having a free purge on the backbar is really nice to have, and the set provides some good recovery as well.

My MagBlade is no more (reincarnated as a Warden now ) and right now I'm once again trying to work out a build using this set: Wyrd Tree on the backbar, Destro + Resto, a Monster Set,...

I have many go-to sets on my characters, but I think that the uncommonly used one that I like the most is Syvarra's Scales on my PvP stam DK DD poison build. It's not the greatest set in the world, but I was loathe to use Viper when I created her.

Her build is:

2x Spawn of Mephala
5x Sheer Venom
5x Syvarra's Scales

Syvarra's Scales procs very often and I like that not many people use it. It's also cheap to buy (4th bonus is useless). She is more of a fun DOT build rather than anything serious and she does well.

Brands of the Imperium: The group shield is simply the best for a 4 person group, especially if you have stam DPS. It's also funny as hell to watch PVP'ers cry when they realise their surprise gank just hit a 12k auto shield that will come back in 15 seconds.

Hundings Rage: It's boring, but solid and you can look as sexy as you want.

honestly you're better off with mother's sorrow. You get slightly less crit and miss out of the 97 spell damage, but you can drink a spell crit potion for much higher crit on demand.

This is exactly what its like when I am experiementing with other armor sets; I can see the good that the others bring to the table, but that inner voice is always there telling you to go back to your "tried and true" at all times...
