Fed up of Glass Canon DPS in dungeons

I ran into a guy who was running buff food that only gives max magicka until the last boss in vet Vault of Madness. He didnt die that run but its a pretty risky strategy running with 12-14k health.

In most dungeons you can prevent getting hit 90% of the time (if everyone does his role) so its mostly down to player skill.

I was in Vet Mazzatun with a pretty tanky tank and a DPS with decent resistances. However, there was on DPS that hit hard but had little-no resistances and had no shields. So when it got to boss fights, he kept draining my magical pool just trying to keep him alive, I have decent recovery but having to spam healing springs and regen on one DPS that keeps running around and gets 2 shotted easily and won't stay with the rest so I can group heal is not fun.

Long story, but I get there in the end.

I play with my spouse; and one of our "teams" is a "husband and wife" couple. He's a Osimer Battlemage (stamsorc) all damage all the time. She's a Breton Templar Healer (best &$*# healer I have ever seen in the game). She is also MERCILESS about telling people if they don't stick together (or be where she tells them they need to be) then they don't get healed.

Unless they have super self-heals, if they don't listen.. she don't heal....and they die.

Heal the folks who group. Ignore the one who doesn't. Although it's good form to tell everyone what you need beforehand.

Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

I'm curious as to what sets this dps was using. Also there is a difference between hitting "hard" and dpsing at a high value, so was he having consistent dps? Or just good random bursts?

Most dps sets don't really add resistance. None of the sets I use at least. Which is why its most likely just a bad dps not knowing when to block, dodge, move out of reds, etc.

The solution? Run with guildies. If the dps was a guildie then let him/her know some tips and/or tricks to help survive.
Crown Crates are a trap. Don't fall for the gamble! Balance? What Balance? Balance, smellance.

Yea I could say the exact same about 5k tanky dps when I play as tank or heals. Glass canon isn't the problem it's the player. Ps not all 5k dps is tanky. Lol

VMA is the best cure for player stupidity. Never seen a Stormproof, let alone Flawless player get rekt repeatedly in dungeons or trials even with 16K health.

+1 on this, too. If I see a DPS with Stormproof- they probably know their stuff.

Oddly one of the best "cures" for my hair-on-fire problems with playing was to start playing Borderlands 2. it's so insane, it makes the worst ESO can throw at me seem doable.

Nothing wrong with glass canons, as long as they know how to play. That DD was probably pretty bad if he kept dying or the tank wasn't doing his job with keep aggro on the hard hitting mobs and bosses?

I have several glass canon builds (I just slot self heals for pugging) and rarely die, regardless of the dungeon.

You even said it yourself, he kept running around and not staying close to the group, that's an obvious sign of a DD who is just plain bad at this game.

I usually say don't hate the player hate the game, but it's the player who's the culprit this time.

DPS need to be glass cannon to be effective. They just need to spam shields if they're magicka and be careful/block/dodge if they're stam.

Any decent DPS has some sort of self-heal and/or damage mitigation, whether it be a shield or blade cloak. If they don't take those into regard, they aren't that good. That, and they're probably good friends with standing in stupid for too long.

I had a party member with 11k HP and he kept getting one shot, and this was in normal Skyreach. We gave him some HP food and that helped a little.
