The non-toxic side of ESO

Joined a PUG for the random vet daily. Got Arx and they were on the last boss. Tank, healer, and dps kept standing in the water and dying. Solo'd the boss to like 5% health from about 95%, and my food ran out as she screamed at me... Wipe :( Other dps goes offline and the healer dips out; just me and a 70ish CP tank.

He queues us up and a 630 DPS joins and instantly votes to kick the lower CP tank. I of course deny :) As we pull the boss a healer joined. I pulled the boss to the wall and dps/tanked her away from everyone for most of the fight.

Boss dies, I offer my loot in group chat, and the dps and healer leave. No "gg" like most civil people would do. Poof, gone. I said "gg", gave the lowbie tank 25k, and parted ways. He/she whispered thank you like 3 times and told me how he/she just yesterday had given a level 1 sone gold to help them start their journey.

This game can be toxic as hell, but I'm sure there are other positive stories such as this out there. Let's hear them!

The only part of this game that ever felt toxic was in all honesty these forums, the only reason I come hear is for rare threads like these

Most recent one for me was when I was gathering mats and a survey in stormhaven, I got close enough to that big spider to see a bunch of low levels getting panel beaten and figure why not, my magic sorc was more than enough to get the job done along with good old weight of numbers. I did the customary cheer that I do after most group content and left when one of them sent the message "thanks for the boost"

I've only met a handful of a-holes in this game, they seem so rare as to not be worth worrying about

Try end game content on PS4 NA; you will meet many, I promise. Awesome story though! It is the little things like this that will make others enjoy the game enough to continue playing, and hopefully shape them into doing similar things for others. It's just a game, I know, but It's refreshing to go out of your way to help others.

That's seriously crappy to join a group and vote to kick someone just for being low CP. Wow. I'm glad you refused. I'm sure that player thought he was special. He probably does that in every group he's in just so he can feel important.

In my earliest adventures in Cyrodiil, my group killed a DC group during a skirmish over a mine and I went to pray over a fallen Khajiit. They whispered a friendly message to me. We became friends and had some more clashes (and sent compliments over kills) when our groups met again. It was a good day.

In one of our first attempts in a veteran dungeon a few months ago, my partner and I ended up randomly grouped with a couple of people farming for Netch's Touch gear. We had a few wipes at the final boss but overall it went well and we were even able to snag a purple necklace for someone. They were overjoyed.

Cyrodiil was quite the experience when I first started playing. I wish it were still like that. As for Netch's, I have a mag sorc, and never want to step foot in Darkshade again lol!

The more competetive (and also when starting playing with people with a lot of CP) you go the more likely it is that you´ll come across someone toxic. This goes for PvP as well. Can only speak of experience. Some people have their priorities in the wrong place and shouldn´t be taken seriously. I get myself a Little giggle those few times someone ragequits/flames in chat, so sad to see someone go down that route.

My main's a mag sorc too. When I'm not running a hybrid build to survive DLC dungeons I go Julianos/Netch's. Farming took quite a while. I'm just glad I didn't try to get a staff.

Oh, I've got another Cyrodiil one. Back in 2015, I was in and out of the hospital quite a bit due to a lot of pain and a rather frightening symptom. I wound up having surgery to make sure that it was not The C-Word. Things were removed and biopsied. My partner spent a lot of time playing ESO with me then, while I recovered and tried to keep my mind off the pain from the incision. We tackled Coldharbour while I was sitting in bed with ice packs over the wound. After two weeks, the biopsies came back clear. She announced the good news in Cyrodiil and there was a small outpouring of support and kindness. Someone even mailed me a bunch of flowers. It was the most touching thing I'd ever experienced in this game and I will never forget it.

I'm facing another surgery next week. Same reason as last time. You can bet I'll be in Tamriel to keep my mind off the pain and anxiety afterwards.

I give a lot of stuff away. If I see in zone chat that someone WTB some crafting item, I give it to them for free if I have it to spare. I'll even go so far as to give a gold crafting item if I've got extra. I just can't see charging someone for it or directing them to a guild store if it's something I'm not using.

I've given gold to people, but not often because I usually don't have it to spare. I'm trying to learn how to pickpocket properly, but I'm not ready to join the Thieves Guild just yet.

The other day I asked: "any WW bite plz" in zone chat. A generous lowbie 136 cp offered and insisted it was free, I mailed them 10k.... as I finished the WW quest (previously had WW on this char) I come at the shrine and there's a lvl 6 there, I assume they want a bite so I bought the passive and bit them.

Not so good: a noob in Deshan was asking for 10k for a horse (normally I ignore these but I thought why not!)
I met him and gave him 10k, he's grateful.
20 min later - " yo bro, got some more money plz"
Anyway I explain I'm not a charity, but these guys repeatedly msgs me (on xbl) many times on seperate days, in the end I blocked him :/

on occasion when youre in a difficult dungeon like the dlc you can come across toxic ppl. Ppl who blame the healer and ignore mechanics are usually pretty toxic.

I noticed that high CP don't give *** about random people he/she is with in group and want just to speedrun every dungeon to complete pledge or farm something. Low CP and newbies are more excited about doing dungeons and they more often say "gg" and "thanks everyone". I'm not saying that acting as high CP is bad, because when you spent years in this game you are just empty inside and bored, so I think this is normal that your DPS and Healer didn't say "gg".

Awesome story, truly! Hope everything goes well this time around as well! As for my mag sorc I run 5 Necro, 5 Netch's, and 1 Ilambries. It's obviously a pet sorc. I can basically self-sustain anything, 21.5k health, 45-50k magicka depending on slotted skills, and like a whopping 8k stam lol. Fun build to PUG with though.

Was running a mag dk as my main prior to morrowwind, the sustain is terrible though so I've been on my alts a lot more lately.

I use to lurk in Bangkorai and wait for people to try and get new players to pay for a bite back in the day. As they were working out the details i would bite the buyer and hall ass out of there lol.

I've never personally bought someone a horse, but someone gifted me 7k to buy my 1st mount. I wasn't asking for gold, just how to get a horse haha. I've had times where I crafted 9 trait sets for people who asked in chat and upgraded it to purple for free though. Next thing I know I'm getting messages from friends of their friends asking me to craft for them. Ruined a rather good experience fast...

I find it bizarre in Cyrodiil when people go around teabagging dead friendlies and then move on to teabag others and don't res anyone. I don't understand that at all.

Not really an excuse. Im max CP, and dont act like an ass to anyone for no reason. It takes all of 5 seconds to show some positivity to a group you just ran with. Just my 2 cents.

I usually do random DF for the bonus experience and never think twice about it, which usually lasts like what, 10 minutes max because of all the high CP people who basically carry me as a lv 40 DPS. No problem, no one says anything or kicks me or anything. So good for them that they carry me without expecting anything in return. Thank you.

But this one time at around 4 am server time, PS4 NA, I got Ruins of Mazzatun Dungeon with 3 other people below lv 50. Wow, just WOW. We pretty much died a bunch, got a lot of wipes, none of us had read the guides or did this dungeon before and after each wipe we just discussed if there were any suggestion for the mechanics. Lots of soulgems spent, around 1 hour I think it lasted, and NOT a single person complained or blamed anyone else for anything. No toxicity, it was pure fun.

All in all, I have not faced any toxicity on PS4 NA ... yet, everyone seems super cool about it, the vets with their high CP and the newbies with their cluelessness (is that even a word?).

Consider yourself lucky that you didnt land in a group of high CP players for vRoM (maybe even nRoM) because I can almost guarantee you with that CP level on PS4 NA you would have been kicked the second they all loaded in. I've PUG'd it enough to know. It's a tough dungeon on vet, many high CP PUG groups still fail to complete it; let alone hard mode.

Story number 10: Riches? It's a videogame. 25k is pocket change on this game to a lot of max level CP people. To a lower level character it can be the exact opposite. Sharing is caring, didn't you learn anything growing up?

I did my very first eso dungeon today. the GF was taking too long so I went and stood outside Fungal Grotto. Got into a PUG. I think a couple of them were CP 600 or so and one was CP 200 and something. Before entering, I told them my status and they said ok. Then, got a popup on screen and they had said they wanted to do FGII so I probably should have bowed out, being my first dgn, but I didn't. I also should have watched Youtube beforehand so that I understood what was going to happen. Anyway, we all died several times, me most of all and I got chained to the floor a few times too. I felt it was really hard. One of them made a comment about can't do this with THIS dps and I apologized. I was just constantly getting swarmed and was trying my hardest to stay alive, just couldn't. We never got past the *** that chains you to the floor. They said, sorry this isn't going to work, so we disbanded. For me, this was a horrible, horrible experience. I'm sure my blood pressure was way too high lol. Not sure when I'll try it again. Seriously taking stock of my build/states/gear, etc. Anyway, the good side of it was, how exceptionally patient these people were. I'm sure they must have rolled their eyes at me like 100 times, but they were just so nice and trying to explain things to me. I was already feeling sweaty and humiliated/embarrased and if they had said anything nasty, I probably wld have cried irl. (I know, its just a game, need to go take a walk or something). But, please know, that some people might call me noob, idiot, whatever, but when people are nice and patient and helpful, it really does count for a lot.

FG2 can be a pain if DPS is lacking. The chained down person will be one shot if a shade is not killed fast enough. It was just an unlucky dungeon to get as your 1st one. Stick it out, most of the fun I've had in this game was with PUG dungeon runs. ;)

Not all high CP players are in a hurry to complete dungeons. Of course, I suck (CP 630+), and my dps isn't huge, so not much point trying to do runs with people I don't know. I've seen so many stories of poor behavior I'm afraid to even try.

On a good note, I happened to have my main in Cyrodiil (I don't PVP) trying to get a few skyshards. I was slowly stealthing my way along when a small group of enemy faction goes riding by. I announce in zone the faction, rough size and direction they are going, in case anyone was around. I guess I did a good thing, cause some one sent me 5k for "being a spy" :)

Doesn't seem toxic..you not seen world yet. It's really power creep that's scary... it's hard to adjust to skill gap between hundreds of cp. Sometimes I feel it too...why didn't they Dodge...why...do they keep standing in posion...why don't the have food :scream: ...is this really veteran

It's wrong to think that way... but I do think everyone has limits on how much they are willing to carry. It's not even a matter of cp, but skill level. B) There's enjoyment in playing with people of similar skill while less if you are often playing novice versus professional. Of course it's our social responsibility to teach or sometimes carrying but it's a choice.

I don't think it was right to walk into a dungeon and vote to kick a player that was very wrong, now on hand I don't think should force people into exception of saying good job as there's different standards in place. I feel like it's misleading to say otherwise. Maybe it's matter if word choice, but when I say you did a good job you best believe you did. Now If we finished... have several some mishaps...I am going be honest and tell you gald we finished it. :) Now if you were beyond bad...I am going real with and tell there's areas you could improve. Why because I would want the same after it's better live in truth than a lie.

P.S makes so much less impersonal  when using voice chat. Easier form that team cohesiven when you are learning and laughing together. So if you ever in such a situation get on discord or something. If don't find yourself having fun remember to leave... Life is too short.

Yea gotta be careful when ppl know you're a master crafter, all you do I help ppl and they think you can craft every set in CP160 in purple with no mats or money provided.

Great job! Please keep this attitude and I hope this becomes an epidemic in a good way.
I also see a lot of new players in the starter zones thanking people for horse, items, gear etc... feels nice to read

I was leaving Vivec on my newly created stam Warden; when some guy like CP 150 or so invited me to duel. I accepted and just let him wipe me. He tried to trade me some mats, ambrosia potions, soul gems, and repair kits. In the trade window I offered 1 million gold. He promptly declined the trade, and whispered in disbelief. He thought I was brand new. He was standing there handing out xp pots and soul gems to the new players. Thought that was kind of cool of him.
