    Crowns more valuable than 50c/day

ZOS accountants are shrewd and smell faintly of anchovies.

Unless you want to rack up like 1 crown every time the server goes down. My OCD wouldn't handle it.

We'd have enough crowns to buy the bank assistant by the end of the year.

Individual crowns are generally pointless. and I got my fair share with my sub.

What I want is an hours sub added on to the end for every hour of unscheduled downtime.
They're down for an hour and 25 minutes, I'll be happy with an hour.
They want to schedule down time 8 hours in advance, I'm good with that, it's 'scheduled'.

Their servers crash, or their code is broken, that's on them, not me.

I already did my part by giving them my payment info in advance, in good faith.
My money was available, while their servers weren't.
I didn't 'attempt' to pay them.
    I DID pay them.

They don't like adding my time back for their failure, maybe they should fail less.

    Yes, they can.
And if they do it twice unscheduled, it won't just be me that stops buying subscriptions.
    There are other games.
And it isn't good sense to chase your paying customers out of the building with a broom swinging at them.

They won't refund money/gold/crowns, but can return the time.
It's the time they trade and take away, so the time should give back, simple.

I spend just as much time waiting on updates, load screen and fixes as I do actually playing the game. I asked a Dev directly if we would be compensated for several days of down time during the PVP event... No such luck. It wasn't even acknowledged...

    I don't want a refund.
I already paid for the time.

The time I already paid for is all I want.

    Nothing more.

"... why do you think they should go through the trouble of ..."
By that line of reasoning - Why should their paying customer base continue to go through the trouble of paying a company that doesn't deliver what they were paid for?
    :)

    We're all friends here.
    I like the game.
I believe the company is made of good people.

But I don't think they have seriously considered yet that people grow weary of not getting what they pay for.
And where that eventually leads, sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly.

You're only as good as your reputation.

How can they return time when the game is buy to play? No one pays for playtime. Some pay a monthly ESO+ subscription for perks but not for playtime. And one of those perks is reduced research time which even works while the server is down.

All of my research is done, so that isn't a perk.
I've been paying the ESO+ sub since launch, to help finance this fine game.
And I've paid for a lot of downtime.
    A lot of down time.

I, (as well as many others) DO pay an ESO+ subscription, and thats what this is all about.

We pay Our money, We don't receive the time in which to use the sub that We paid for.
    This isn't about refund.
This is about getting the time paid for.

Go to a restaurant, buy the spaghetti and meatball special, because it comes with 8 meatballs for $15.00.
The waiter brings it to your table, sets it down, then scoops up 3 meatballs and puts them in his pocket, and tells you to enjoy your meal.
But it still cost you $15.00.

I want the damned meatballs I paid for, and not the ones with the lint on 'em.

    Simple as that.

And while the game was broken, many subscription players missed the 2:00 AM EST cut off time for writs along with the elevated experience and loots associated with them.
Not my fault, but I'm less benefited by my subscription because of it.

    o:)

Why don't people get that they are not paying monthly to have access to the game at any time. You paid once to get access to the game whenever Zenimax wants. You are all paying monthly for bonuses for which you have no right to have access to at any time.

Let's see what you all agreed to when purchasing ESO+ ...
I'll highlight the important stuff for you ;)
    6. AVAILABILITY OF SERVICES AND CONTENT; GAME MAINTENANCE, PATCHES, UPDATES; TERMINATION OF SERVICES

ZeniMax does not guarantee that any Serviceswill be available at all times, in all countries and/or all geographic locations, at any given time, or that ZeniMax will continue to offer any particular Services for any particular length of time. Except as prohibited by applicable law and subject to the Statutory Obligations (as defined in Section 1), ZeniMax reserves the right to change and update Content without notice to You. ZeniMax also reserves the right to refuse Your request(s) to acquire Content, and to limit or block any request to acquire Content, including, but not limited to, Downloadable Content and Game Mods, for any reason.

ZeniMax may patch, update, or modify a Service at any time with or without notice to You. Notwithstanding the foregoing, ZeniMax has no obligation to make available any patches, updates or modifications or correct any errors or defects in the Services. ZeniMax makes no guarantees about the persistence or availability of any user names or other personas at any time and assumes no liability for lost or deleted Account data. Except as prohibited by applicable law and subject to the Statutory Obligations (as defined in Section 1), You agree that ZeniMax will not be liable for any interruption of the Services, delay or failure to perform, any loss of Content (including, but not limited to, UGC, Game Mods and Downloadable Content), and/or Account data (including, but not limited to, Character data) resulting from any causes whatsoever. ZeniMax reserves the right to offer new Services, change and/or discontinue certain Services at any time in its sole discretion.

They don't have to compensate you for anything as you don't own anything. You have not bought anything. You don't own your account or anything associated with it. You have not paid for the right to play the game for X amount of time. You haven't bought game time. They owe you no game time. They allow you to play their game entirely at their own discretion.

Part of the ToS that we signed:

"By creating an Account, You agree that You do not own the Account, any user names created on the Account, any Content stored or associated with an Account (such as digital and/or virtual assets, achievements, virtual currency, and other Downloadable Content), or related data associated with the Account."

Most online games have similar clauses.

Having said that, if you are giving them money each month and are not happy with it, it may be in their interests to try to sweeten you and keep your donations. If many are feeling a similar way for similar reasons, it would make even more sense for them to do so. You can ask, but that is all.

But they don't have to give. You own nothing. You're entitled to nothing. They owe you nothing. Legally at least. It is, however, in their interests to prevent these bodge ups happening too often as people may decide to stop donating to them.

For me, I enjoy the game enough that I can put up with their patch screw ups. Some people don't enjoy it enough to put up with it and they leave. Or they complain loudly hoping to make them improve their performance.

The only way they could give you any time back would be to track downtime since you became an ESO+ member then give you the extra time when you end your membership.

they shouldn't give you anything, we're talking a span of a view hours, big whoop. go outside and do something.

The fact is, I'd rather not see ZOS pressured to give us "compenstation" for every bit of maintaince. The result is a preverse incentive, where ZOS rather then take the servers down to FIX issues will leave them up and turn a blind eye to problems until regular maiuntance, this means problems, even important ones just won't get fixed.

I shouldn't have to explain why this is a HORRIABLE thing

You think, or you remember. Which is it?

The only game I remember being reimbursed for downtime is Rift. Every once in a while I'd see 1-3 day credits on my billing history. I think a 6mo sub actually lasted 9mo one time because of all the issues with one of the patches.

Oh, looks like you guys have no right to demand anything. Too bad I guess.

In my country these practices are illegal and could result into court being pushed towards ZO studios.
You cannot point out in the inside statue that you claim for not giving the service whenever you want to.
If someone would have warm head, he could set up a court case and win it easly, since you are paying for the service that you are being limited to use.
Learn some law, probably there it is pretty similar to what i have in my country. And the electronic "signature" does not have any legitimacy in the court case anyway, since it is so easy to manipulate out of the law regulation it is not being taken seriously at all.
As long as they are being paid by us and they provide certain benefits in some software, they have to provide us the ability to use it. Otherwise it is ILLEGAL.
It is like steam would cancel their services for 1 month and make people unable to play the games the purchased it is the exactly same scenario in the lawsuit eye.
    Megabear wrote: »

Because they got a lawsuit on it and they lose it.
If the same lawsuit would be claimed, they would be forced to close down their services aka mmorpg game.
