Spell damage

Hi guys, just went into my character sheet and noticed my Breton Templar, cp272 has more weapon damage than spell even though I have all light gear and destro staff.

Anyone able to explain how you increase spell damage if it's not gear and staffs?

I'd guess this was due to the Aedric Spear "Balanced Warrior" passive which gives you +6% Weapon Damage. General ways to get more Spell Damage specifically include:

• Jewelry enchantments
• Specific sets with +Spell Damage (e.g. Julianos, Kagrenac, etc...)
• Major/Minor Sorcery Buff

There are no light armor or destro staff passives that increase spell damage. On the other hand there is a Templar passive that increases weapon damage. You must not have any spell damage glyphs on jewelry or any set bonuses that provide spell damage.

I'm only 1290, it's the first I've checked and it seems very low.

Run Julianos and Willpower jewelry with some spell dmg enchants. Take Spell Power potions or use Entropy/Surge/etc for 20% Spell Damage buff (doesnt stack). You should be at least in the 2000+ range before buffs.

Assuming you're DPS there's no hard amount of Spell Damage you need although 1290 is on the lower end of things. A few things you can look into:

• Make sure your weapons are gold as soon as you can afford it (and are certain of what build you are aiming for).
• Julianos is a decent DPS set for most started builds although there are a lot of other builds that don't rely on sets with +Spell Damage so don't worry about it too much. Willpower jewelry is another good starter set for jewelry slots.
• Use x1/x2/x3 spell damage jewelry enchantments. Basically as many as you can use and still have enough recovery to last for longer fights.
• Make sure you are using a source of Major Sorcery.
• Look into using a Weapon Damage enchantment which increases your Spell/Weapon damage some of the time.

If you can get your unbuffed Spell Damage into the 2000-2500 range you are doing fine for most content.

Have 3 will power jewellery in, I'll google julianos see where to find it.

Julianos is a crafted set, the station is in Wrothgar

If you dual wield on your front bar, running 2x Torugs Pact swords gives an extra spell damge bonus. It is also a crafted set.

I like how no one mentioned attributes.

If you want more spell damage, put more points into magicka. You're a magplar; ideally most of your points should be in magicka.

That's because putting attribute points into magicka has no effect on your spell damage stat.

Ok quick update, got my spell damage up to 1500+ using netches touch.

On my Stam red guard raised weapon damage from 1200 to 1600+.

Basically farmed Darkshade caverns 1 for netches, automatons and truth set.

5 automatons 5 truth on my stam 5 netches on magic.

It's a good starting point but would like to have an easy quick dungeon set to match with my netches for Templar, any recommendations?

Ditched that idea, after learning Templar gives 6% weapon damage decided to have a mess around there and with the stam gear on my weapon damage is 1800!! Crazy jump and that's without med armour bonuses, she's a Breton though so think I'm gonna race change to Redguard if it goes good.
