Why scammed? I made about 500k gold with this set last week. I just provided what the market asked for. Not my fault things changed last minute.

The old max 1-4 piece crit value was 1066
1066 / 219 = 4.86

The new max 1-4 piece crit value is 833
833 / 219 = 3.8

So we basically lose 1.06% for each 1-4 piece compared to PTS

It was pretty clear from the outset that the 55% increase to critical set bonuses was too much. Mother's Sorrow a very good set, it received a ~25% bonus overall compared to pre-patch version. Of course some parses would need to be redone to establish if it's really better than other sets out there on live. I know that some people would blindly follow certain gurus without actually waiting for things to settle down. I just saw way too many changes in my almost 2 years in this game so I won't jump any boats as soon as someone points at them. For now I will just stick to what I have on my current main character, magicka Sorcerer, currently learning vMA: 5 Law of Julianos + 4 Infallible Mage + 2 Iceheart (not optimal damage but the extra shield does help me survive some rookie mistakes)

That's strange because the new patch notes say this .

Mother’s Sorrow: Increased the Spell Critical Strike rating granted by this Item Set to 1924 from 1643.

Yup - some folks forget in the zeal to get ahead that while the major directions of changes dont change in the final release, often tweaks based on the results in PTS are done. in this case, the "clearly best now" Sorrow pre-patch frenzy might well have turned into more Sorrow for the early jumpers.

Dont worry tho, i am sure the "ZOS NEVER LISTENS" threads will be back in about seven nanojiffies.

The set (and overall stack crit + shadow mundus meta) was clearly BiS. This is exactly what they're trying to fix with all the changes, so gear / mundus / CPs are now more dependant on your build, gameplay and group comp.

It wasn't just Mothers Sorrow ~ Infallible aether got buffed up on PTS, and got changed.

Still better than before, I mean, 1924 spell crit on the 5 piece makes it worth potentially looking back in at for a heavy atk build.

Sigh... Well I'm glad I golded out just 1 Julie staff. Had a gut feeling that ZOS would screw us in the last minute. Ah well, mother sorrow still gives a bunch of crit but was the shadow stone nerf really worth it? Unnecessary in my book

Well I did sell 2 extra rings I had for 32.5K each and I will end up selling the surplus sash for a similar sum but why would anyone pay that much for such common items, available in game for almost a year, is beyond me

Maybe when yall watch Alcast and Gilliam for pts theorycrafting, you should stick around for the 30 times in each video that they say "remember, it's PTS, so everything is subject to change".

That said, reverting the precise change and nerfing shadow, nerfing thief even further, that's pretty dumb. I understand not wanting a boe set and a crafted set to be BIS, but traits and munduses were at a great balance point on pts.

Burning Spellweave had quite a good run considering everybody and their grandmother was running it and we for sure don't want another situation like that again where magicka classes get pigeon holed into a one set for all scenario.

BSW had a great run, but then we entered the Glorious Era of Play How You Want which hath smote the meta and any new ones that attempt to emerge from the ashes and stuff.

That is how it should be and it's a good thing. No one set should be the best because that what everyone will wear and there is no build diversity. Now we have to think about what we are doing rather than follow the streamer pipers. This is better as people may realize there are different paths to the same goal. Or at least some of us will.

Looking at "Mother Sorrow Rush" during past few days; i saw nothing but bunch of dudes eager to become OP just by copying Alcast build.
