Harassed for the better part of a month now...

So I'm a role player. I've been playing around for a little over two years. Granted I'm not everyone's cup of tea (just ask the community forums I'm banned from) but I never take my frustrations in game to ruin anyone's good time. I think that's crappy and childish. So I've made a go at a few guilds trying to do something a little different and those were a no-go and I accept that, guilds will fail. But recently I've been a target of an element within the game that just finds it hilarious to pounce on me every time they see me, and the reason being...I let the wrong person into my guild.

Now I'm pretty sure ZOS is not going to allow me to name people here, but its obvious who they are. I mainly RP in Riften but for nearly the last month I've barely been able to function there because of these individuals. I screenshot, I copy the chat dialogues, I take video and I send this all to ZOS. My ticket is marked solved, I go back the next night, and the same people do the same thing to me. It never ends. I've done nothing to these people and apparently ZOS condones what they do because they are still there. I can handle the lies they spread, I can do damage control, its beyond that.

Ignoring them? Easy, click of a button I don't have to read the nasty things they say to me. But I can handle that, I can hold my own against anyone. BUT, what happens when they physically stand right on you the whole time, throw a thousand mud balls, and spam spells on you for a hours? Yes I have nearly 2 hours of videos of this happening, I send the links to ZOS, nothing happens. Next night I go back, they do the same thing to me.

I don't understand why this isn't harassment. They (the trolls) claim they are just playing the game "their way" and they are not doing anything wrong. But how is it not wrong to play the game, at the expense of someone else's good time? They laugh at the prospect of being banned for it, they are basically saying bring it on. I know one guy has been reported at least 100 times and I don't think he's ever been banned, he's basically the trolling king. Everyone says just ignore them, but this is beyond just putting them on ignore. I have been mud balled, chased around, talked *** to, stood on, danced on, spell spammed on, t-bagged on, and the individuals just think its hilarious. ZOS has the info I gave them, yet nothing is done. Seriously how long do I have to put up with this ***? They are basically telling me stay out of Riften, or they'll do this to me every night. How is that fair?

Sure, I could stay out of Riften and just pretend they're not there, but I shouldn't have to. When you have an element in any game, who's sole purpose is to ruin someone else's gaming experience, they need to be removed. No regret, no sympathy. It shouldn't be allowed, lessons needs to be harsh. People like this don't belong in the game.

The mud balls and spell spamming do sound very upsetting especially when you are trying to enjoy RP'ing. I'm sorry to hear this, and I agree. You should be able to travel throughout all of Tamriel freely, without fear of being harassed. How about ZOS starts sending some warning bans of 12 hours at a time, or something like that? Give this player some peace and quiet.

Also, good on you for not naming guilds and players, because naming and shaming would just close this thread straight away with no help being given.

Its a particularly high level of hypocrisy that someone in an online fantasy mmo playing a created character with a created name would go out of there way to annoy people engaging in a similar activity.

I dont RP, but I support and respect your right to do it. Ive come across people RPing all over the map over the years I have been in this game and I move along. Im sorry you have to deal with this, I would hope that people that engage in this kind of crap are treated with severity, ideally perm banned.

Zos wont do it though, in terms of gaming they seem to be interested in providing the place for you to game, your experience inside the world they created appears to be largely ignored. We had similar issues in the PVP community, it took, in one or two cases I remember literally years to have some who blatantly cheated removed.

This is targeted harassment, and its a travesty that ZOS wont do something about it.

All you can do is report it, or move to another town while ZOS get their act together. Maybe report on Xbox and via ZOS.

What can they do tho? Bansfor biggest exploits where a week or so. Tho that guild that did the burning thing In craglorn got a life ban iheard.

Can you change ur toon name and account name? Change appearance too.

It all depends on what is literally is being said. Any in game action is pretty much allowed. Real life cursing etc isn't allowed.

That sucks. I've heard stories similar to yours where nothing was done about it, despite the fact that in order to play the game you have to click "agree" on a list of rules, and not harassing other players is one of those rules. Yet if it happens, a lot of times nothing is done. And of course, if they're harassing you, then they're probably harassing other people, too.

You probably should have posted this in the "General Help" forum in the Customer Support section. Posting it here in General Discussion will just invite trolls to show up to abuse you.

I have to admit that I liked the way Blizzard handled this. In WoW, this would have been blatant harassment and they would have dealt with it. I've seen players banned for various times for things that are similar to this.

I think maybe the issue is that in WoW, everything is copied/tracked. Most players don't know this, but that's the only way Blizzard could deal with harassment, cheats, and other issues that requires a record. And maybe ZOS doesn't do that, hence they don't have anyway to see whether your complaint is valid or not.

Maybe what needs to happen is that ZOS gets together with you and have one of their people follow you and see what they do to you during the game.

You say you're not everyone's cup of tea. That's fine, you're an individual. You follow up with being banned from community forums as an example. Forums plural. That kind of implies that something is wrong on your end, rather than just being singled out for having different views.

You say you've pleaded, begged, and specifically cursed, I can only assume "you people" means the staff, them to take care of your issue.

Seems to me you might need to do a little soul searching, and consider swallowing your pride and apologizing to this particular community, if you still value being in Riften unharried.

You haven't given us enough information to judge either in, or against your favor, but this is what I glean from your rant so far.

You might be not so much an individual, as just toxic, bud. =/

They'll get banned when they stop paying for ESO+. Otherwise, they won't ban income because people are playing a game and it upsets you.

This is probably one of the only ESO subforums where the thread will get enough attention to be addressed by the high level ZoS people - which seems to be what is required to get that harassment to stop.

In the meanwhile, I would suggest porting to a different place when they appear - and being in offline mode in case someone in one of your guilds is informing them of your location.

I hope the childish behavior stops. But, some people just are childish and don't care how their behavior affects others, so they don't self-moderate.

Easy answer to entire game

make rp servers where this behavior is punishable.

Make a pvp server where pvp is open game outside of cities with all current content.

Make a pve server where pvp is optional as it is now.

Would reduce lag a ton and seperate players into like minded groups then they can balance everything around the server according to the player base of that type.
Everyone does what they came here to do and stops messing with people who dont wanna be part of your thing

Well, my problems involving the RP community forums is unrelated to this. Most of those forums are run by individuals that are 20 somethings that have very little real life experience and try to create a utopian society and disallow anything negative. They don't have problem solving skills and when you bring forth an issue they deflect it back onto you. I was never liked there because I always challenged the norm, eventually they cast me out. Long story but there are plenty of people who I get along great with. Regardless of that, it doesn't give anyone the right to target me in the game for harassment.

Yep, either way, it's no excuse for that behavior, but it might be the only way to handle the issue right now. Doesn't seem like ZOS is doing anything about it.

Roll an alt and start a new RP mode for yourself.

you'll do what you'll do metal head - but, don't let your pride get in the way of finding peace and enjoyment...

sounds like it's time to ghost for awhile - seeing how it's too much of a pain to track offensive individuals down in real life to properly grief them...

remember - whomever has the most fun wins...figure out your options and proceed...

If they are harassing you on the level you claim (I haven't seen it so I can't say) then yes, they should be banned or at least suspended.

I have been mud balled, chased around, talked *** to, stood on, danced on, spell spammed on, t-bagged on, and the individuals just think its hilarious. ZOS has the info I gave them, yet nothing is done. Seriously how long do I have to put up with this ***? They are basically telling me stay out of Riften, or they'll do this to me every night. How is that fair?

Sure, I could stay out of Riften and just pretend they're not there, but I shouldn't have to. When you have an element in any game, who's sole purpose is to ruin someone else's gaming experience, they need to be removed. No regret, no sympathy. It shouldn't be allowed, lessons needs to be harsh. People like this don't belong in the game.

I have begged, pleaded, and cursed at you people to do something about it, and you don't. So why am I still playing this game when you are allowing trolls to run people out of whole towns? Its ridiculous and needs to stop.

Couple things.

You say you're not everyone's cup of tea. That's fine, you're an individual. You follow up with being banned from community forums as an example. Forums plural. That kind of implies that something is wrong on your end, rather than just being singled out for having different views.

You say you've pleaded, begged, and specifically cursed, I can only assume "you people" means the staff, them to take care of your issue.

Seems to me you might need to do a little soul searching, and consider swallowing your pride and apologizing to this particular community, if you still value being in Riften unharried.

You haven't given us enough information to judge either in, or against your favor, but this is what I glean from your rant so far.

You might be not so much an individual, as just toxic, bud. =/

Well, my problems involving the RP community forums is unrelated to this. Most of those forums are run by individuals that are 20 somethings that have very little real life experience and try to create a utopian society and disallow anything negative. They don't have problem solving skills and when you bring forth an issue they deflect it back onto you. I was never liked there because I always challenged the norm, eventually they cast me out. Long story but there are plenty of people who I get along great with. Regardless of that, it doesn't give anyone the right to target me in the game for harassment.
