I agree.....Like I said playing elite dangerous witch is almost the opposite of esoGiles.floydub17_ESO wrote: »Nice new trial with 2 more dungeons coming soon ans another trial (mini) in a few months. Morrowind had a nice story line.
It's really a matter of perspective and again, maybe time for a break.
Well your Forum Thread title asked, "is it eso or it all mmos"?
The Short answer is It's all MMOs.
A longer answer would probably need an essay. But IMHO, from someone who played computer games from Pong to Commodore 64, I submit that MMOs have been evolving, the way the companies make money has changed dramatically and quite frankly I believe F2P has led us to the point where we are now.

Which is precisely what you got with Morrowind.
I don't recognise any of your criticisms to be honest. I've been playing PvE-only since PC launch as a subscriber with no interest in the crown store and nothing has changed in the way I play and enjoy the game.
I would like a better trading system but that hasn't changed recently and I don't understand your reference to an auction house being linked to gold buying and selling. I only very rarely encounter bots and never come across gold sellers although I have zone chat disabled as it serves no useful purpose.
Dueling in popular areas was an irritation initially, but as with all PvPer-demanded activities it turned out to be a seven day wonder and I rarely encounter it these days.
If Elite Dangerous and Diablo 3 are more your thing then fine, but they're not a replacement for ESO which is a different style of game altogether. It sounds like you may have been playing the wrong game for you.

The game started out great TES like mmo able to make a unique character crafting was fun etc
Then things stared to go down hill
Zmax started trying to sqieeze us for money started with non cosmetic stuff in the crown store
The housing system where you can't store your stuff.
Morrwind cash grab although morowwind does not ad much stuff but all events and new dlc need morrowind to fully experience
They really screwed over thier sub base with this
Now technical difficulty
Bots and gold sellers running rampant turning the game into another linage 2
Refusal to give us a Auction house as option to gold buyers and sellers
Change for PVE game to PVP game
Maybe it evolution of mmo game but I find myself playing eso less and less
Been spending most of my time between elite dangerous and diablo

It just since morrwind came out ESO been going in new direction....it might not be morrwind but somthing has changed in ESO it's became more dumbed down more PVP oriented because morrwind added BGs
Like I said seen every MMO develop this way
Starts out fresh with new and interesting concept's WOW ,Linage 2 GW2 but soon degrades into farming, bots, Gold selling all to support instant gratification of the PVP

C64 represent!
you are correct about MMOs in general.

LOL this has been going on since veteran level zones were nerfed into oblivion. More generally, ZoS changes the game completely every 6mos to a year, and ESO difficulty continues to look more and more like WoW over time.

Not stress it's just that every time I invest in mmo it always starts out interesting and fun concepts
But always degrades in to generic farming gold buying bots and no interesting content story.
Devolves into a generic PVP gear game wither every character is nerfed into blandness in the name of pvp balance
And then the gold sellers and bots take over to sell biz gear that everybody is equipped with
What I loved about tes games and eso was the story and quests
It is now turinging int pvp arena with anything outside of pvp turning int bot farms and in the citys nothing but gold sellers

It sounds like you were wanting The Elder Scrolls 6.
I feel you there.
However The Elder Scrolls online can never be Elder Scrolls 6. As fun as it is and as many hours as I have sunk into the game and will likely sink into the game, I know it will never be able to fully mirror the feeling of what Elder Scrolls 6 will be.
Why?
There is one other real person in the game which means that the whole world will not revolve around my character.
So what do I do?
I pretend that most everyone else in the game are just NPC's running around. When I run group dungeons is the only exception.
I don't do enough PVP to know how I will handle that.

Or a mighty General leading a army of knights in the tes world
What we ended up with is a bunch of Arena where CC warriors all the same fight it out he who has the best CC balance wins
Been playing Elite dangerous does not have the versatility of FRPG but I am star ship captain and with the whole galaxy open to me.

All the stories and quests are still there. Play them again if that's what you enjoy, they didn't remove questing from the game.

Yeah sort takes the fun away when you cant see 10 in town due to all the people casing fireballs....or you hear somebody playing hiphop over the voice channle
Or Gold spammers filling the screen
Ore going to area and seeing agroup of people neamed `93u29234347 pulling all the creatures in the area and casting aoe spells

So you wanted a single player game that revolved around you? Ever thought about just ignoring people as you play as a thief or forming a group in Cyrodiil to "lead knights into battle"?
It amazes me how many people think an MMO should cater to their exact personal needs. You probably should quit and go play a single player game.
