Sotha Sil AD (PC/NA) -- Recent lack of groups?

I am a relatively new player, but have dabbled in Cyrodiil since I was able to. During that time, up until just a few days ago actually, it was quite easy to find a group. I was actually shocked and impressed the first dozen or so times by getting a nearly instant invite from a single "lfg" in zone. Nice groups too, 10+ members each time easy.

The past few days however, not so much. It's not just me, so many constantly LFG in zone but very few if any groups. I'm not sure if it's event-caused though because the first few days of it I had more or less normal invite times. I've seen this happening both when AD is doing extremely well and super-zerging as well as when AD is getting wrecked. I'm sure there are a few organized groups running around and I'm specifically referring to "open" groups that you get invites from via zone chat.

So my questions to the community are --

Is this normal? Some days lots of groups and some days not?
Is there some "trick" to joining a group aside from being in a PvP guild etc?

Was it during the weekend when you were getting invites? And now since it's during the week, you are not? If so, there should be some groups picking you up this weekend. From my experience, AD is the weekend warrior faction. Many guilds in AD only really run on the weekends.
