Beyond sick of the RNG in ESO. Please fix this.

So I like ESO, but the loot system and RNG is horrendous. Literally the worst time when farming gear or refining materials. I've been farming for a Lich Resto staff in ANY TRAIT on Crypt of Hearts for about 50+ runs now. I've farmed for countless hours for the Silks of the Sun set, and Burning Spellweave. I've farmed for ages for Amber Plasm. Farmed vMA quite a lot, trials as well. I literally NEVER get what I'm looking for without getting the gold to just outright buy it. I ran CoH2 on vet with some people the other day and 1 of them got Lich Resto in powered first try, meanwhile I've done loads of runs with nothing to show except POWERED LICH BOWS AND MAULS.

Magicka sets should never drop a stamina weapon. Stamina sets should never drop magicka weapons. That's just 1 issue, though, the overall RNG of getting what you want is so incredibly unfair and punishing. I look at builds and I can't even try builds out because the sets require farming which is just painful because of the luck factor. I've spent more time farming and doing monotonous grinding than ACTUALLY playing the game for fun. I'm genuinely so close to quitting for good. One of the final straws was just 10 minutes ago, farmed resource nodes for a while and got 500 raw rubedite ore, refined and got 1 TEMPERING ALLOY. ONE.

vMA also needs a token system, I'll gladly run vMA 20 times or more to build up the tokens if I know I can get an Inferno or Lightning staff in sharp/precise/infused. Personally I don't have as much of an issue with vMA farming right now, my issue is literally with everything else, dungeon farming, overworld set farming, etc. It's not fun.

Please ZOS, I get that your aim is to keep players playing and buying things from the store, but I've did my time. I'm so close to being done with the game for good because it's 95% farming/grinding for stuff and 5% having fun in PvP or PvE (and even then I am just thinking how I need to farm a set to maximise my build to perform well.)

I basically farm all day. Its what I enjoy doing. I routinely refine wood , ore and cloth. When I do it , normally don't do anything under 2500 of any of these. Even with maxxed points for getting decent refining items I get like 2 dreugh wax or alloy. Tons of craptastic greens and blues.

I get some days are gonna be better than others but cmon!

I personally don't mind the RNG of it providing we have a way of rerolling or reforging our gear, think Diablo style where you can pay gold to reroll a trait.

If that is not possible then yes, we need a reduction of RNG factors.

50 Runs? Boohoo. I am well over 500 in WGT looking for an Imperium one hander with defending. I do admit the RNG seems excessively bad at times though.


I absolutely disagree that stamina sets shouldn't drop in magicka weapons and vice versa. Those are the weapons most useful in hybrid builds, stop thinking that just because you dont/wont use something no one else will.

Silks of the Sun(and any other overland set) is downright easy to farm. If you are only doing world bosses looking for weapons, you are doing it wrong. Your best way to farm them is chests....much better return for the time invested. I will chest farm in a given zone and only do a world boss when I come across them in my farming circuit. I got 2 sharpened Silks of the Sun inferno staves this way in a relatively short time, and countless other pieces.

I get sooooo many rosins its stupid. I sell 10-15 a week, lucky if I get 2-3 alloy or any dreugh wax at all in the same time refining more raw materials.

It will remain, because RNG, ZoS, and ESO all have three letters. RNG system is half done, and 3 is half of 6. RNG+ZOS+ESO=666. This was all foretold a couple thousand years ago.

Stop farming, craft your gear and buy the rest if needed, and live your ESO-life happily and joyful!

Its not that bad .... or im just lucky. I can usally get what im farming for with little effort. Weither it be a infused bone pirate bow, a lich resto staff sharpened not great but could be worse, or divine gear.

Yes RNG is the def the worst in this game.
Ill have to disagree with your statement that magicka sets should only drop in staves, I know people who want moondancer swords for their magplars and the medium set Alkosh for sword and board. People might need interesting weapons combos for certain sets so it should not be limited like that.
I wish I could only complain about 50 runs to get something. Run dungeons with some friends and guildies, Im sure they are willing to give you anything they get. And this might be difficult but you should farm weapons that could be universal to nearly all mag or all stam characters.
Example, all my magic toons use moondancer inferno staff sharp on front bar and maelstrom lightning back bar, also have a malestrom inferno sharo just in case for flex spot. Those are hard to get but you wont really be needing to farm weapons that often then

I agree, the RNG loot system is for me the MAIN negative for this game. I try to avoid subjecting myself to it as much as possible. Main reason I haven't even started on VMA, it's just not worth the aggravation for me.

This is why almost none of my builds are centered around BOP gear. It's all crafted and Overland for me. I just don't have the patience to deal with that BS.

Trials gear is a bit easier to get than dungeon gear, since you have 11 other people to trade with.

Increase the drop rate or add an Undaunted token system for quick fixes. They key/chest thing already exists. Or let people trade a limited number of BOP dungeon items with guildies per week.

I very much like a crafting fix for the RNGaaaah! issue but they've made crafting too "everyone can do it all". Reminds me, need to post my crafting improvement thread sometime. If I can find the time.

Agreed. Sometimes that nice weapon drops, but with the wrong trait... Bow with powered (healing) ... I really wish crafters can re-trait weapons for others.

On the contrairy, they won'T change RNG, but as the game becomes easier with CPs etc.. they make it harder to get our stuff, lower RNG for good trait i am pretty sure. It their only way to keep us in, since you can farm normal mode of stuff and get the same items as vet stuff (exept vMA which only gives the weapons) but besides jewls being gold, well the difference is only a matter of numbers behind the coma.... What i mena is, you can farm gear easily, we can upgrade any items from blue to golden etc... Unlike WoW for instance, when you wanted purple gear, you ahd to farm it, in a different dungeond ifficuly as blue ones, lower tiers gear... but in this game, you farm it on eays mode, and upgrade it... so acomplishing end game stuff is easier.. so their only way to give us trouble is giving in bad RNG and making hard to get proper traits since we can mostly solo farm all stuff.....

In other words, it's an hypocryte ways of keeping us in game.. but, how many has left the game because of this as well.... I don't mind normal or veterans 4 mens or normal trials to drop stupid trait etc.. but, vMA is a pain to learn... and it's annoying to get that as well bad trait.. but again, vMA is on a DLC, so if you wanna run it, you either buy it with crowns or ESO Plus members.. in other words, the longer they keep us trying to get our perfect weapons or close to it, the longer we pay to run that place.. again, hpocryte marketing in my on opinion....

We'll see, i'm pretty sure after Horn of the reach, for instance, sharpened stuff will drop often in vMA since they drop half effectiveness sharpened weapon.
