PVPers are naturally angry people. Good thing they're kept fenced off from the rest of us.

@Betheny I swear you are always taking the words right out of my mouth in a lot of things. I've yet to come across a thread where you are lying, and or sugar-coating anything. +1 to you.

PvP'ers are naturally hostile (as mentioned by Bethany), OP. I know this, because I used to be strictly a PvP'er for a long time. And then I saw the light, and had a myriad of epiphanies all at once about PvP. Both the core of it, and sub-community itself. Sure there are "bad apples" everywhere, and in every sub-community. Without a doubt. But, none have been as malicious and rude as those that I've encountered in PvP. No. Not even close. The toxicity is horrible.

It's not true. At least in my experience most people on EU Sotha Sil are decent people. The horror stories users post here are not what I encounter. You can actually make a lot of in game friends there if you like, and most are very helpful and like to discuss stuff concerning the game. Jerks will be jerks. You meet them anywhere in the game, PvE, PvP, it doesn't matter. PvP is not the big bully schoolyard it's made out to be.

You can whisper people on opposing sides? I never knew that. I remember someone telling me to type /w, but that never worked either.

I just wanted to know what armour he had on. :(

If you /w their character name you must use a comma.

/w Right Meow, I like your armor. I'd like it even better if you weren't wearing anything.

But if you /w their @name don't use a comma. I /w people friendly things in opposing factions all the time in PvP. Made a ton of frenemies on my friends list since launch in opposing factions.

The weirdest thing I learned in this thread is that people send hate MAIL. I've gotten hate /w (rarely) but never a thought-out in-game mail hate message. That's really putting some effort into trolling.

There's an amazing amount of complete and total idiots who play this game and should be put in a long time-out IRL. I'll never cease to be amazed by it.

Bethaney, Champ, you are both well-known PVP-haters... I'm sure you've both had some bad experiences at some point - but you are wrong to think that its all like that.. (unless perhaps it is where you play... Are you both US-based perhaps?)

Certainly on PC-EU, in 2 years playing ONLY PVP, I have had maybe 2 hate tells, and seen maybe 2 arguments in zone chat (I don't group).. I've had a LOT more friendly chats with my opponents.

I've seen a damn sight worse than that in the month I spent in PVE trying to grind undaunted mettle! Rage quitting, vote-kicking.. I mean what worse can you do in an online game than exclude someone from your group? I ended up finishing it by soloing dungeons instead - it was just so much more relaxing.

To the OP... There are a LOT of PVEers playing PVP right now. So much so that I havn't been able to get through the door to my usual home (Vivec). How do you know that these 2 salty gankers weren't PVEers trying to get their 50 killing blows..?
I suspect they were because any experienced PVPer would know to not try to gank the tank. Especially after failing once already.

Any average PVPer knows that they lose 50% of fights.. Those that can't deal with losing quit PVP and go back to PVE-land pretty quick. And I can tell from the post that these 2 are NOT in that rare top 10% of PVPers who rarely lose.

Even those who are in the top 10%, well, those are the players who constantly challenge themselves, putting themselves in situations where they are vastly outnumbered and there is every chance that they will lose. They know that when they lose its because they made a mistake... So don't really get salty with their opponents either..

You are absolutely right, I have no clue whether they were true PVP'ers or just playing around for AP like I was. I do know the only other person I have whispered so far during this event was one player who did the laugh emote over my body when I died due to fall damage. We had quite a laugh about it and went our merry ways. Yes, there are bad apples in PVE as well but I have not experienced the sheer quickness of rage there as in PVP. Usually PVE'ers will give it a go in a dungeon, trial, WB, etc a couple of times before they tell you to shove off...but that's just my experience.
Guess not true PvP, if so they should know you die a lot.
Its only an issue if it take you out of the fight for a long time like getting ganked going to an enemy keep still that is an risk.
2v12 would require high skill and still be an high risk part.

They are frustrated that some players do survive large groups, because they notice that their noob procc gear doesn't work on every enemy So no worries you only met copy and paste build gimps with no skill.

It makes them angry to have once again the confirmation that they do suck, you actually hit them really hard in RL. ;-)

Happens on my pure DK Tank all the time, they cannot accept the fact that they cannot kill me and that I am the one who has a lot of patience to kill their whole group one after each other. They hate long fights , I don't that's the advantage on survival builds.

Burst procc noobs can't play PvP, but it's their problem not ours.

Update to the Mayhem experience today: Stayed topside a lot, learning where better to place ballista so they don't despawn immediately under a massive sludge of burning oil, and died...a lot...over and over and over. It was actually fun today! Nope, didn't make Emp, made another level with another skill point though. Woo Hoo!

No angry whispers today, just an overly temperamental Bossy McBosserson yelling in zone chat trying to tell everyone how to PVP.

All in all, a good day!

I am not a PVP'er and have never claimed to be; I have no PVP sets, have no clue what to do while PVP'ing, and honestly the only time I ever do PVP are in special events like this or to telvar farm with my guild. While running with my guild tonight doing a little AP farming in IC we notice a couple of gankers following us. I am assuming they saw a big group, probably 12 of us or so, and figured it would be easy pickin's to cut off a few stragglers. My main is a tank so I was running in my old PVE tank gear (I'm looking at you Footman's and Hist Bark!) and decided to be the last one through the doors to help protect the group.

A couple of times they try, in vain, to pick me off but it doesn't work; I am able to keep alive until a couple of my group can come back through and help out. Towards the end of the run we were trying to head down a sewer entrance to head back to base. I was bringing up the rear as usual and all of a sudden 4 AD and 2 DC (the same 2 DC gankers) pop out of nowhere and start hammering away at me. These are all CP630 players, assuming they are set with at least some PVP gear, and none of them could take me down. Rest of my group popped back up the ladder and proceeded to mow through them.

Let me reiterate; I was in PVE gear and 6 players could not kill me. What they could do though was whisper me and tell me what a PVP noob zergling I was! I whispered back agreeing completely with them and applauded them for their ability to see I was not a PVP star. Insert more salty comments from them directed at my crappy PVP playstyle...insert more agreement from me that I know nothing of PVP. The last whisper I got told me I should be ashamed 'to be proud of my zergling self.'

The last whisper I sent was "I am neither proud or ashamed of my zergling ways...but killing you was sure a lot of fun!"

I don't think I knew how seriously players in this game took their PVP until this event. Wow...just wow! Anyways, thought I'd share my experience and ask if anyone had anything similar happen to them?

Honestly, footman and histbark probably makes you pretty damn tanky on a DK tank, so that's not really a problem gear wise.

These pvp people coming after you clearly have no ability to choose a target. Even if they thought they could kill you the first time, they should have noticed that they weren't doing much damage and broken off the attack and ganked other members of your group.

But to explain the salt a little, tanks are pretty hated in pvp because they waste so much time and you can't really kill them in a small group. The unlimited battle revives are a pretty serious balance issue that favors numbers in the extreme. I've been in outnumbered fights, where literally everyone my group is fighting was killed 2-4 times but they keep reviving each other and there are just too many to make them all dead at the same time. Tanks contribute heavily to this problem because they take so many people or such a long time to kill, but you can't ignore them because they'll just revive their entire faction.

Secondarily, the S&B ultimate is insanely powerful and cheap. It is basically a 100 ultimate god mode for any moderately tanky build.

As someone whose only pvp experience consisted of running around like a headless chicken to get enough AP to unlock Warhorn and purge, the past 2 days in Cyrodiil has been more amusing than I expected. I'm running around in Alkosh, War Machine, and Blood Spawn spamming snipe with a vMA bow and chaining people from the other zerg into my zerg. People don't expect the 50m+ snipe under propelling siege shield or being stunned and dragged into 10,000 mage's wrath.

I really enjoy hearing PVE players having fun in PVP . No one should be underestimating a PVE player . There are trial guilds that could wipe the map if they were so inclined . Some have more working knowledge of game mechanics then those that only PVP . Good for all of you winning battles during the event .

I did notice that the first day, the PvE scrubs were a bit.. scrubby, not quite sure what to do and running around like headless chickens. Now, they are actually working efficiently to capture the map, keeps, scrolls and do quests at the same time. While they are still roflstomped by the usual organised PvP crowd, they do work together to capture stuff point by point and not stopping, kind of like you do with trials i guess ^^
PvP crowd has a bad habit of straying away from groups and doing their own thing, chasing other players and thus not sieging and focusing on the objectives. This is where PvE dungeon tunnel-vision is best and works wonders.
I was in a raid with mostly low ranked PvE begginers and the map was constantly being flipped and it didn't stop. Not quite seen that kind of capture activity for a long time.

Day 3 update: Have never died this many times in this game until today, even in Maw of Lorkhaj, and still having a blast! Learning what catapults work well for what, even set up a forward camp for my guildies, and loaded dragon leap on my bar. Holy cow was that fun jumping into a pile of AD!! I died of course but softened them up for the others! I have over 700k AP and leveled to corporal I believe?

Not sure that I would come back to PVP, other than telvar runs with the guild, but I am truly surprised I'm enjoying it as much as I am. When they first announced the achievements would include killing blows on 50 players, I arranged with a friend to log on somewhere quiet and kill each other for the achieve. Very proud to say I have 16 kills so far and may not even have to cheese the achieve!

You PVP'ers may be on to something here ;)

yeah I was dying a lot in PvP too - a large part of it was my fault as I was on my lvl 22 DK who I haven't used in a long time (mainly because I was getting my main more organized). I was hopeless with my bar - and did have to deal with these 2 gankers that just wouldn't stop. Over and over they kept killing me, after like the 6th time (no matter how long I waited) I kept saying in chat to avoid the road they were killing me on. (I was in a big pick up group). I was frustrated - BUT I was still having fun and I like to think I was helping keep other players alive.

Well done OP, good to see someone annoying the gankers. If you ever venture above ground in Cyrodiil you'll notice that even text chat for your own alliance is full of salty comments.

I must be the gankers best friend, because I roll over and die and have never received any salty whispers. I know I am not that good but the last thing you need against professional gankers with animation canceling is lag, slow internet and 5 thumbs on each hand.

I know there are some really friendly people in PVP, and you can actually have some fun there (even if you aren't that good) but there are nearly always enough of the wrong people on to stop it being too much fun.
