I am not a PVP'er and have never claimed to be; I have no PVP sets, have no clue what to do while PVP'ing, and honestly the only time I ever do PVP are in special events like this or to telvar farm with my guild. While running with my guild tonight doing a little AP farming in IC we notice a couple of gankers following us. I am assuming they saw a big group, probably 12 of us or so, and figured it would be easy pickin's to cut off a few stragglers. My main is a tank so I was running in my old PVE tank gear (I'm looking at you Footman's and Hist Bark!) and decided to be the last one through the doors to help protect the group.

A couple of times they try, in vain, to pick me off but it doesn't work; I am able to keep alive until a couple of my group can come back through and help out. Towards the end of the run we were trying to head down a sewer entrance to head back to base. I was bringing up the rear as usual and all of a sudden 4 AD and 2 DC (the same 2 DC gankers) pop out of nowhere and start hammering away at me. These are all CP630 players, assuming they are set with at least some PVP gear, and none of them could take me down. Rest of my group popped back up the ladder and proceeded to mow through them.

Let me reiterate; I was in PVE gear and 6 players could not kill me. What they could do though was whisper me and tell me what a PVP noob zergling I was! I whispered back agreeing completely with them and applauded them for their ability to see I was not a PVP star. Insert more salty comments from them directed at my crappy PVP playstyle...insert more agreement from me that I know nothing of PVP. The last whisper I got told me I should be ashamed 'to be proud of my zergling self.'

The last whisper I sent was "I am neither proud or ashamed of my zergling ways...but killing you was sure a lot of fun!"

I don't think I knew how seriously players in this game took their PVP until this event. Wow...just wow! Anyways, thought I'd share my experience and ask if anyone had anything similar happen to them?

@Soriana please allow me to worship at your feet. You got in there, admitted that PVP wasn't your thing and took down a bunch of punks who think a whole lot of themselves! Good for you!!! And you have excellent taste in avatars. ;)

My toon happens to be AD and Thursday night I got completely flattened by a very large group of EP fighters. I died splendidly!

I really enjoy hearing PVE players having fun in PVP . No one should be underestimating a PVE player . There are trial guilds that could wipe the map if they were so inclined . Some have more working knowledge of game mechanics then those that only PVP . Good for all of you winning battles during the event .

You will find most people run pve gear in Cyrodiil with maybe the impen trait to reduce crit damage but thats about it  Always fun though to kill the opposition.

I did PvP today. It was the first time I've ever defended a keep. I was in my PvE gear, too. The only time I've ever been in Cyrodiil before was to do a couple of scouting missions (one successful, one not), so defending a keep was a new experience for me.
Loved it. Will do it again. Maybe some day I won't suck at it. :p

Good on you OP. I wouldn't say you're a zergling though, you basically took on the rear-guard role to keep the rest of your group from getting picked off. Brilliantly done.

Have to totally agree with OP, I'm a level 199 (200 today lool) I had never played PvP until this event so I switched up some gear and got right into it, luckily a met someone who was willing to teach me the ways of the master ganker, I came out of PvP with about 100 kills and 2+ million in damage, now I was running a full pve setup basically, full hundings rage and leviathan with monster 1-1, yes I ran around headless every now and again and got lost occasionally but I found the experience so much fun (apart from the zerg lag), having someone with me who knows PvP very well massively helped but at the same time I enjoyed just getting involved, if you can just get over the fact that everyone dies alot then PvP is awesome I think pveers have a hard time wutht the amount of deaths they incur as you rarely die in pve, I have well and truly been converted to a casual PvP player.

If you want to receive salty mails just use snipe on bow and spam it lmao you will be the worst player in the world to everyone around on the other team but just snipe stack and have fun, I definitely think the biggest thing is to find a group tho as it's great fun watching 20-30-40-50 off you charging into a keep.

Top tips for kills, MEATBAG trebuchet & Flaming oil are worth there weight in Tel Var I swear to it and watching your screen fill with numbers when you MEATBAG punch a zerg baaahahahahahahaha

Today I will switch to full viper full hundings and Selene's if I can get the helmet (so basically I won't have the helmet), and watch change my build a bit and then get right back into the carnage that is mid year lagfest, but I will wholeheartedly enjoy those salty ass messages

    idk...

Bethaney, Champ, you are both well-known PVP-haters... I'm sure you've both had some bad experiences at some point - but you are wrong to think that its all like that.. (unless perhaps it is where you play... Are you both US-based perhaps?)

Certainly on PC-EU, in 2 years playing ONLY PVP, I have had maybe 2 hate tells, and seen maybe 2 arguments in zone chat (I don't group).. I've had a LOT more friendly chats with my opponents.

I've seen a damn sight worse than that in the month I spent in PVE trying to grind undaunted mettle! Rage quitting, vote-kicking.. I mean what worse can you do in an online game than exclude someone from your group? I ended up finishing it by soloing dungeons instead - it was just so much more relaxing.

To the OP... There are a LOT of PVEers playing PVP right now. So much so that I havn't been able to get through the door to my usual home (Vivec). How do you know that these 2 salty gankers weren't PVEers trying to get their 50 killing blows..?
I suspect they were because any experienced PVPer would know to not try to gank the tank. Especially after failing once already.

Any average PVPer knows that they lose 50% of fights.. Those that can't deal with losing quit PVP and go back to PVE-land pretty quick. And I can tell from the post that these 2 are NOT in that rare top 10% of PVPers who rarely lose.

Even those who are in the top 10%, well, those are the players who constantly challenge themselves, putting themselves in situations where they are vastly outnumbered and there is every chance that they will lose. They know that when they lose its because they made a mistake... So don't really get salty with their opponents either..

Did they fix the group que for BG? I only ask because when Morrowind first released on console, I spent about a whole day there. It was fun, I guess. ESO Call of Duty is all it really was.... but never went back until yesterday. Before, I was winning matches about 1/3 rate, maybe higher. Now? Took me ten tries to finally win a match. You can tell the groups are more coordinated as well. Did they fix the group bug or did RNG Jesus just stick it too me last night?

Dunno, I'm on PC EU and I definitely had my share of hatemail during the event.
As I said earlier, I'm not a good pvp player, but it seems that not being able to defeat a pver is very painful for some pvpers. Perhaps they thought they would get guaranteed ap because of the event and were pissed when they didnt. For example, thats what I got from a guy who couldnt burst me as he probably hoped:
    jLnJHoO.png
I didnt screenshot the rest, because they were way too rude. But I reported them. :p
There is a sort of pvp players who think they're inherently superior to pvers, maybe thats somehow related.

You are absolutely right, I have no clue whether they were true PVP'ers or just playing around for AP like I was. I do know the only other person I have whispered so far during this event was one player who did the laugh emote over my body when I died due to fall damage. We had quite a laugh about it and went our merry ways. Yes, there are bad apples in PVE as well but I have not experienced the sheer quickness of rage there as in PVP. Usually PVE'ers will give it a go in a dungeon, trial, WB, etc a couple of times before they tell you to shove off...but that's just my experience.

I think I can call myself a PvPer and I'm very polite and respectful player even for "n00bs" and when someone one shot me. I never teabagged anyone and I won't do it to any stranger because I don't know if that person like this. It's just a(n awesome) game. When I win a duel I'm happy but I don't think that my opponent is a n00b, maybe he is newbie or just had a bad day, like meh sometimes. Idiots are everywhere in both PvP and PvE, they are few but louder than many nice people.
