The core issues of PvP have been neglected for a long time. I pray that the lag, loading screens, and subsequent crashes that this community feels over the course of this event will shine some light on the state of PvP in ESO. Here's to more than a band-aid fix next patch

I've had one loading screen done at BRK. Was a bit odd since nothing flipped down there. I didn't crash though some of group did which was odd since I had the greatest distance between myself and the server. I had no extra lag until it became a zerg vs zerg fight at a keep. Also, I was in the non-CP campaign so take that however you want. But yeah, PvP does need some fixes.

I know this is going to be a pretty uncommon occurence from the sounds of it...

But last night once they opened up the new campaign I was in within 15mins, and aside from a small bit of lag in the very biggest battles I was actually thinking how noticeably better it was compared to 18months ago.

    This is on PC/EU btw.

Its not perfect yet... but its a lot better than it was.

This goes back as far as the "Battle the Devs" event on the PTS when the crown store was first introduced.

It's persisted long after the demise of torchbugs, deer, and lions.

I'm not sure how they have a server that can handle thousands of PvE instances involving tens or thousands of players, but three Alliances pop lock across a single zone and the server simply vomits?
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

Think it is mostly with AoE DoT effects, worst case is if two ball zergs engages and you will have hundred AoE active at once, DoT, buffs debuffs HoT. Raids with lots of adds is the closest and its just 12 man in one instance.
Overland is simpler as its not as much going on but you can also get lags because of dolmen zergs.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

My experience was butter smooth yesterday. Maintained smooth frames and some 90-120 ping so all was pretty normal. Though i was expecting the crash since all servers were poplocked, it didn't touch me.

Of course I don't know their architecture, but likely all the instances can be distributed across multiple servers or at least processes without sharing data between them. However a single instance needs to share data across the threads so must be on one server. Cyrodiil is a huge zone and pvp players spamming abilities is more taxing than slow pve content, so there's no comparison to any single pve instance. Surely their architecture is quite scalable for number of instances, but a single large instance is a problem.

Does battlegrounds have the same issues we see in Cyrodiil? I'm guessing no because it is a small instance, I've never played them though.

Agreed lag has vastly improved over patches got to give them that, my ping at worst is around 200 at worst of times, but it doesn't often remain that way.

Prime time before the event has some issues on Vivec when guild groups are running rampant and the whole server is in one place. That and the fact despite this and queues nobody goes to the other campaigns to then populate them, not until this event that is.

I think those who are lagging/stressing about lag are those who sit in 700+ vivec queues finally get in and wonder why it's lagging...

They should have launched one more campaign or at least increased the population cap for the campaigns. That was truly unprofessional and showed how little they know about their own game.

Apart from that, it was fine. The only struggle for me was getting in. Once I got in, I was getting 45-100fps ( 45 during HUGE zergs).. ping was fine as well ( 200-250.. that's what I get normally).. only 1 spike to 999+ during the 3-4hrs I was in. 0 crashes, no long loading screens.
It isn't as bad( on the forums at least.) as it sounds. Well, the experience might have been different for you guys, but for me, it was pretty good EXCEPT THE INITIAL QUEUE STAGE.

Perhaps now they will find a better lead developer to oversee these issues...
