Miat Addon

Why is Miat still in the game? Can someone inform me if ZOS attempted at banning it or anything they have done regards to this addon. I strongly disagree with having this addon in the game and am still hopeful ZOS will ban it.

Somethings on it were changed, so it now is not an over powered add-on. The real problem is, it was a private add-on for some time , and is just the tip of the iceberg for how far add-ons can go. It's the bear you don't see is the one you have to worry about.

Ah I see. Glad they are at least trying to resolve it. Well, to give you an example of how stupid this addon is (not that you don't know) whenever I frag people on my sorc I can tell who is using miat. The amount of times I've had where I toss a frag at someone that isn't even paying attention to me or has no clue that I'm around they either block or dodge roll my frags.

Miat, I don't have a problem with you honestly. Your build is I suppose "meta" but you don't hit all that hard, and have a very simple and obvious rotation and play-style. You're as slippery as a slaughterfish dipped in olive oil (extra virgin), and you usually come with two or three buddies. And if you happen to be alone for some reason, one piercing mark is all it takes for you to sprint away for what seems like a good mile.

My problem is your addon. Because you got upset that you got ganked and that there was no "counter", you began formulating in your mind. You caught ZOS off guard. The APIs are all there (PAUL SAGE WE REMEMBER YOU OLD FRIEND OF TAMRIEL)! You ceased being a nightblade. You ascended to godhood and became a "Miatblade". And you know and I know it, there are quite a few miatblades running around the battlefield these days.

But the whole premise of your idea is flawed and based on irrational anger. There are in fact counters to being ganked. They are called awareness, readiness, and proper build setup. We can't have our cake and eat it too. That's not how Tamriel works. There is give and take. If you're so worried about being ganked you build for it sacrificing something in return. Your addon allows you to play the build you want and completely neuters stealth for other players. It's not even about skill, your addon tells you how to react and when to react.

I know you are ex KGB and that your addon had the blessing and backing of the Kremlin. I know you are still angry that back in '85 Drago lost to Balboa. In your mind Drago should have been able to take the steroids without any side effects and crush the Italian Stallion.... You've disgraced the ancient order of Nightblades. Actually, its not the fact that I get ganked its because miat users dodge like 90% of my frags. Plus, I'm not running the meta. I haven't seen even one person run the same setup as I do. Why bring something random like KGB, Kremlin, and Drago beating Balboa? What are insinuating here? Irrational anger? I was real chill when I posted this post. I don't want miat to exist in this game because it simply holds your hand and takes the skill out of this game which has been a common trend with the recent updates (e.g. not being able to bash soul assault, etc.).

He was referencing the sheer ego in rolling a glass cannon dodge stam build, then upon discovering that gankers were actually a threat to him, decided to create an addon to counter stealth attacks rather than making a sacrifice like putting radiant magelight on your bar. When asked about his motives and reasoning he takes up the position that stealth is unfair, and argues his position with the same perceived superiority I've come to expect from a religious extremist. When I discussed this with him, he told me something to the effect of, "I shouldn't have to put a skill on my bar just to counter stealth." Of course drawing the parallel of requiring me to put a skill on my bar to counter dodge roll is lost on him.

And the addon itself is pretty much bull. The fact that someone can be sitting on siege in the back of a siege line, looking at the keep and get a notification well in advance that someone offscreen it attacking them is really just not okay. Out of the current capabilities of the addon after the API change, this one is the one I have a problem with.

The only good that came out of the Miat's release is the publicizing of the exploitative information available via the addon.

The whole situation is just a mess and naturally ZOS will more or less avoid commenting on this as much as possible.

Addon makers can only do what is available from ZoS thru their API. So ZoS made whatever you are complaining about available. Which, interestingly enough, ZoS also CLOSED that API hole months ago. Poeple seem to think calling Miat is the holy grail of saying people are cheating in Cyro atm.

Wether or not ganking is acceptable or not is not your call or Miat's call, that's the game designer's call. I'm not a fan of vigilante justice, let alone from a Russian in Trump's America

And regardless how you feel about stealth play (I am not a fan), an add on that tells you when to dodge to avoid incoming projectiles is bad for the game. It's one step away from a macro playing the game for you.

If someone should have to slot an ability on their bar to counter stealth, then you should have to slot the ability to enter stealth on your bar. People seem to forget Miat IS a gankblade. Not in the sense of how some people have figured out you can literally 1 shot from stealth, but that's not all ganking is.

The fact is stealth gives you an insane advantage with no downside. Telling anyone they can counter it by ruining their build is asinine. ZOS has made this a little better lately but the fact remains. Stealth should only give you the surprise advantage. Not also a damage boost and free CC.

It's an unfortunate side effect that it harms sorcs a lot, but honestly I don't see sorcs having a hard time at all in this game. You play a class with overwhelming mechanics. Using it to counter stealthers and the horde of Xv1ers spamming javelin and flame reach is the best thing anyone could do for this game.

I would play single player games, but npc's dont whisper sweet saltiness in my ear. Know what I'm saying. Are you picking up what I'm putting down. You'll get it I'm sure.

there are other addons that, for example, tell you to break free or dodge. there are other addons that tell you when you're about to get hit with a projectile, add ons that tell you when you're ulti is ready. Miat's just does it well. I think that there are so many problems with the game currently that miat's addon is probably the last thing on a list that is miles long that we should focus on. simply put, if you cant deal with someone using miat's addon in pvp maybe you shouldnt be pvping.

This addon removes the need for a player to have good situational awareness. If you turn your back to a sorc to sprint away, should you know a projectile is incoming? You made a choice to turn your back to them.

The main problem with Miat's is that it has created a play style that totally dependent on something that's not intended.

The counter argument is going to be "if it's in the API it's intended", but that's just excuses for wanting to keep it. Plenty of things in game were included for one reason or another, but ended up being abused and eventually eliminated in some way.

The host of "empowered by miat's" players has grown and grown. The worst of them are the "gankprocblade" types that sit in stealth using miat's for nearly everything and procs for everything else. Their entire playstyle is watching miat's and reacting to attacks it tells them are coming and then "countering" with 2 proc sets attached to a critical charge and incap strike.. then they go back to watching miat's waiting on the proc cooldowns as they dodge roll and cloak. Rinse repeat.... it's a pretty bad play style and it's total cancer as it spreads.

The amount of players relying on Miat's for everything has grown... it's roughly half of players you see. Some groups it's rare to see more than a few "empowered by an addon" players and with some groups it's rare to see a single non-Miat's abuser in them.

If you question how it's created a play style that bad for the game... let's just say it's empowered a reckless aggressive play style that now has much less risk attached to it's aggression. If your entire play style is critical charge->execute->dodge roll->goto1 and you run multiple proc sets... well, you don't have to do very much to achieve in the game. The worst part is the abusers talk as if it takes skill to do it. The risk to overextending and over aggression has always been dying quickly and badly... but now, they have warnings alerting them to everything.

What makes it even worse is those that play with more dubious "addons" on top of it. Take a high damage and little sustain build and add sustain and ridiculous passive dodge chance (with a little damage added on the top, just for laughs) and combine it with warnings for attacks and you get people posting videos on youtube about how awesome they are. Fact is... you just can't hit them enough times to threaten them through a vigor animation cancelled by a dodge roll or two.

The biggest counter argument a miat's abuser will make is that is makes ganks more likely as miat's is their only defense. It's your only defense because you choose to run a build and gear setup that doesn't counter ganks and ranged barrages in any way past being magically alerted of their impending arrival. Much of the complaints about ttk and what not is totally skewed by players that can run max damage builds without much fear of being gibbed.

Miat's has affected the entire pvp dynamic in a very bad way and the api needs to be changed.

Oh, you're right. Sorry, just thought he was referring to since I play with enzo and shooter and I happen to speak russian too. I see he referring to Miat the player. I have no beef with Miat the player and imo he isn't at fault. I think its just matter of just regulating what is allowed in cyrodiil by zos when it comes to addons.

Killa, I agree there are other addons like Miat but aren't as good as miat and I'd say no addon should do what miat or the other ones do. I can deal with miat users don't get me wrong, its just that it gives miat users a huge advantage over a non miat user. Saying that I shouldn't be play the game simply because I don't want to use an addon that holds my hand is exactly why one of the main reason I've barely been enjoying the game lately. Its like saying everyone should play stamnb to compete simply because they are the meta.

This is my biggest issue. I shouldn't lose substantial burst to an add-on.

How about we speed up the drags projectile then?
