Account issue - unsure how to proceed

I purchased the PS4 edition of ESO (without expansion) about a day and a half ago. I share a Playstation with my BF and when I went to create my ESO account accidentally created it under his PSNID. After struggling to contact support - I seem to be one of the accounts that can't log in to the support site - I was finally given the answer that there is nothing to be done about attaching my account, with my email, to my PSNID. This despite the Support FAQs directing customers with this issue to contact CS. I was willing to eat the frankly very minimal progress made in order to facilitate having my ESO account on my PSNID so I suggested simply deleting the account. I was told that there is no way to delete or otherwise purge the account so I can remake it on my PSNID.

I understand that I can change the email associated with the ESO account - but then my email is not attached to my account. I think I can also reasonably extrapolate that if I change the email on the ESO account I have now then I can make a new one attached to my PSNID with the aforementioned email address - but that leaves the owner of the PSNID everything is currently associated with stuck with my original account. Again, something I'd prefer to avoid - and yet it's about the only thing I can think of at this point. I realize it's highly likely that I was communicating with an agent in a service center who truly has no access to account management tools or that issues with Sony might complicate things but surely something more elegant can be done?

So I'm making a forum thread in an attempt to completely explore my options and maybe get some visibility from a member of the ZOS team.
