How to level up

Stuck
Stuck
Hi,

just started after a 3 year break to give ESO a shot again. I understand that the One Tamriel Update removed the Level cap for Quests etc but how do you Level up now?

I remember at release you did the Quests that were appropriate to your Level. Now you can go to anywhere you want and do Quests there, but is there any Guide of the Order you should do the Quests? I guess to get all the Skillpoints i will have to do all the Quests anyway, so i just do the Quests of one map after another until i m finished? Should i start and finish the Story Quest first and then the Guild Quests?

You can really do things in any order you wish...it's basically up to you based on your goals...if you are trying to power level and just get to champion points as soon as possible you can farm Dolmens and Public Dungeons.
If you are not trying to power level then yes you get the benefits of extra skill points and some nice quests by doing the story and guild missions.
Personally I prefer to do the quests but I am not out to power level

    Not.
    Suffer.

    Just do any quests around.

Short answer: Exactly the same way you did before.

Long answer: (Note: for people who want to do ALL the quests) The only thing that's really changed is it's now your choice what order you do quests. With some exceptions - if quests are part of a chain you still have to do them in order.

My personal preference is to go in order across a zone. For example in Stormhaven you start at the West side of the map and move East as you follow the main quest, so I do the other quests in the same order - I look at the map and pick whichever is closest/furthest West. (This doesn't always work however, for example in Rivenspire you start in the middle and go West, then East, then back West on the other side of the mountains, so then I had to remember which way I was heading at the time.)

But you can't really mess it up too much, unless you keep switching zones and picking up random quests as you go, which I assume you're unlikely to do if you care about doing them in order.

If you just want to do quests that award skill points, or just the main quests or whatever...I'm not too sure. I'm a completionist and I like questing so I've never worried about selecting between different types of quests, just making sure the stories make sense.

I would just roll your factions campaign first collecting skyshards, lorebooks while doing the main questline. Once thats done same with other maps for silver, gold and whatever dlc' s you choose to do or have.

You can sort of play it a bit like Skyrim and previous Elder Scrolls titles where you just explore the world and just do whatever quest seems interesting.

You can level up to 50 in a week or two just doing quests or PVP, and you don't need to do all of them. If you have Morrowind I suggest to start there as this zone is very nicely done.

Quests, kill stuff, world bosses, dolmens, public delves, dungeons. There is no right or wrong way. Virtually everything you do gives you XP. Dolmens are probably one of the easiest ways.

Quests give good XP, and like you mentioned, you should probably do them all to get the associated skill points. However, quests themselves can be very time consuming versus just going around killing stuff. So if you're in a hurry, you should look into popular spots for grinding mobs and/or dolmens.

Never grinded. Have limited time. Have 6 characters at lvl 50 and almost CP 300. Deleted few mid lvl characters.
Started playing on April 16th this year. Just play the game and you will level just fine.

Because not one mentioned it yet and just for completion - be aware that the quest rewards change with your level (up to the current max CP 160). Some quest rewards include containers where the content will be determined once you open it. Dark Brotherhood for example.

May or may not be important for you. Perhaps for the main quest line if you like the unique look of the weapons.
