Stamina/Magica Recovery vs Physical/Spell Resistance

My Nord Dragonknight has almost always worn armor geared towards Magica/Health/Stamina expansion or recovery. However, I'm looking at some heavy armor with an emphasis on Physical and Spell resistance. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with both and if there's really one that's better than the other.

Guessing you are looking at this for Tanking reasons? I will say that resistance is overrated in PvE for Tanks, the resistance you get from your armor and shield and Major Ward and Resolve is good enough to do any and all content. There is a lot of other ways to get Damage mitigation that is easier to get than Resistance and that gives more. Recovery is far more useful than resistance. Only in cases where you build to block as little as possible is resistance necessary.

For non CP Pvp and in some extent CP PvP Reinforced trait is good to use cause of the penetration going around, but same thing as in PvE applies here. There are other sources of mitigation that are easier to get and that can't be penetrated. But if you tell us more about your set up and purpose of the build we can help more and give information more specified for your needs.

Well ... I'm relatively new to online, group-gaming. I played a lot of games like the Fallouts, Skyrim, Dishonored, etc. So when I got into ESO I wasn't aware that there were specific builds for group playing/fighting. So I just guessed at a build and went with a general tank/damage mix. I then joined a guild and the guys talked me into becoming a full-on tank. I hated playing as a tank so I've gone back to a Nord DK mostly-damage character but with some good shielding properties. I generally play PvE as a loner but do a group dungeon on occasion.

Even though I've put a lot into my Stamina build it seems to run out more quickly than Magika and Health for some reason. So I thought that I might try the Spell resistance and Physical resistance armor to see if that might improve my status. My logic is that if I don't get damaged as often or as deeply then I wouldn't have to use my shields as often thus saving my Stamina for offensive purposes.

I would not worry about resistance, instead you could go with some self heals, the Alliance War Assault Skill line has a great Stamina based heal, and there are good ways to protect yourself in different ways with the 2 Hander or Dual Wield abilities. And in solo content like the overworld the best way to survive is mostly to kill things so fast that they can't hurt you.
