Just another one of those features that either got dropped mid-development, or the image is just a troll placeholder. Let's hope the upcoming transmogrification feature solves all our problems.

Wait is Transmogging in actual development to be implemented into the game?? Where’s more information on this if so?
Playing since October 2013You walk the narrow path that cuts between glory and sacrifice--valor and patience. You measure your pursuit of honor with reason and foresight.

Unfortunately, I think he's just being optimistic. Honestly, I'd like to see them drop next year's first quarter Dungeon DLC all together and do a cosmetic update instead. They can add weapon dyeing, transmog, and armor stands/weapon plaques for housing. Maybe even make jewelry visible! :O

No, Matt Firor just announced it's in development:

Yay! I hadn't seen that. "No ETA" but still better than not doing it.

YeahI wanted transmog from ESO launch (coming from MMO's which had it), and felt super trolled when they introduced shield dying ignoring weapons.

The damn weapons already look a stupid pink anyways. Who gives a crap? People dye their armor bright pink, blue, gold and all sorts of stupid silly colors. There's literally NO logical reason to not have already added this by now.
My personal opinion is that the team is just to incompetent to put in the work to actually complete it without breaking everything in the process
@ZOS_GinaBruno this is the thread

The only "rational" reason is because shields are less work than weapons, and they chose to take the "half-finished" (or "half-assed" if you prefer) approach to adding dyes. There are TONS of weapons in game, and lots of Motifs have three styles (model designs) per weapon based on character level involved. The majority of shield have only one design per Motif.
Occam's Razor. The simplest explanation is that their Lead Devs looked at how much work it would take to do and just said "well f*ck that."

Actually, all of the weapons in game already have color mapping. Notice that they change with material color and with improvement level. It would be way easier to implement weapon dyeing than it was to add armor dyeing, since the entire structure for the system is already there.

Yes, I had a discussion on this point at length when I made a Dye Weapons poll back in January:
https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/317383/dye-weapons-with-morrowind/p1
One key difference you are overlooking: there are only 10 colors on each weapon currently because there are only ten crafting tiers. How many dye colors are there at the Dye Station? Here you go:
http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Dyes
There are ~200 dyes on that page. That is 200 color palettes that need to be added to every weapon in the game. My point still stands true. The work is a massive undertaking.
The other key point you are overlooking: Armor dying, as an original task, was already implemented before Shield dying. Shield dying came later. My original point was that by the time they got to the idea of Weapons, they likely said "F*ck it", and abandoned the notion temporarily.
What you've said doesn't refute any of my original point.

There isn't a feasible excuse that the coders haven't even worked on this at all while they did with everything else dyeable

Meh. I've wanted to dye weapons since launch, but the game is owned by ZOS. Any "excuse" they make is a "feasible" excuse, because they have the right to make any decision they want. They just didn't prioritize it yet. Neither you nor I really have any clout to say their reasons aren't valid.

This is a really dumb thing to argue about but...Nelson_Rebel wrote: »I guess if I was sleazy businessman that would be my line of thinking as well.

There is nothing "hypocritical", by definition of the word hypocritical, about the statement you just made. ZOS owns this product in conjunction with Bethesda. They have built their vision for this game the way they see fit, and they are 100% in their right to do this. They are NOT sleazy for building this game the way they want. It is THEIR game.
You, on the other hand, have zero moral or legal say in the matter because: A. You (likely) have zero ownership of this game, and B. a discussion of "morality" has no place in this conversation.Nelson_Rebel wrote: »Just because that's what's being fed to us doesn't mean we have to accept it as normal.
Sure, you're not forced to accept a game like this. You're free to voice your opinion or leave whenever you want. That's about as far as your power goes.Nelson_Rebel wrote: »Many of us pay a monthly subscription on top of the base game cost and all other purchases.
And that subscription you pay gives you no moral or legal power to dictate anything in this game. If you buy an apple from a farmer, but it tastes disgusting, you can ask for your money back. You could even tell that farmer how to better plant apple seeds in the future. That farmer is NOT obligated to give you your money back, nor is he obligated to later adopt your advice on farming. ZOS is the farmer in this scenario, and you are the person who is buying sour apples from the farmer.

Make everything as awful as possible because it has legal validity behind it.
