DDoS Attack

I thought maybe a DDoS attack too, but this doesn't seem like one. I think the servers are just over stressed from all the players off on this holiday weekend. And seeing how it is a holiday i wouldn't expect a fix until later. I'm sure staff is at a minimum.

And there was me thinking everyone had quit because the forum experts assured us it was so... !

Gotta get everything set up for 5 days of free ESO Plus. After all.. even if you cant put anything more in your crafting bag after it ends, you still have the space from everything that dumped into it.

Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

Let us try and make sense of this yes.

If everyone with issues could post the following perhaps and anything else useful you can think of:

    ISP
Any other useful info on your sort of connection
    Approx location
Frequency and severity of lag issues - is it still happening?
    Platform and server
    OS
    Favourite ice cream flavour
    Is it raining outside?

    Yours with paws
    Santie Claws

Appreciate the attempt to help out, but we've already ascertained that it's affecting people in Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States, so that rules out ISP. I've been reading all these posts and they all have the same issue, severe lag in the form of 3-6 second delays doing anything. It's so bad that even crafting isn't an option for a lot of us.
The thing is, if people who are actually effected took the time to fill out this information honestly, then the ZOS people could actually come to one thread, look at it all and see if it matches what they're seeing and help find any issues faster.

The problem is people who have the issues are not interested in being helpful (for the most part) and just want to rant expecting ZOS to magically have everything needed to find an issue.

Please if you've had issues why not humour us this one time and answer Santie's questions. Besides I am very interested n knowing if where the rain currently is.

Then start a new master thread about it would be my suggestion, but I can tell you right now it's spread across all servers and platforms, countries and ISPs.
It's not though, the outage this morning was very much NA servers and SEA players on EU. No EU players from my understanding kicked off about it.

Which again, saying it's everyone doesn't help narrow it down.

I could start a thread, but come on we both know it would be trolled, smack talked, I would get a bunch of abuse for being a try hard, then it would be off the front page and help nothing.

I am just trying to remind people to post something useful if they can, Santie's list would be a good start. However honestly I am getting tired of trying and might just go troll zerg rage threads again. :disappointed:

If only there was a standard form/poll page that we could bring up, maybe with a hotkey in game, that would log a buncha parameters and let us comment so that the server personnel had data that was standardized rather than players trying to haphazard details.

Similar to the one we need for being able to report bot-trains that recorded the time/location and everyone within 30 meters so that the server personnel had data that was standardized rather than players trying to haphazard details.

I've been playing ESO about twice a day for the last few days and haven't had any issues other than the occasional kick to login screen. I've been playing outside of prime time hours though so that likely has something to do with it :x

Game is always smooth as silk for me, but the last two days it's been just about unplayable. Lag, skill delay, rubber banding, kicked to login several times...I'm on PC NA, and I'm in Texas. This morning it's worse than it was last night.

I just logged in to play maybe 15 minutes ago. Lag was still awful. My skills didn't work at least half of the time - weapon swapping was inoperable - it was basically unplayable as others on here have said. If anything, the lag seems to be getting even worse if such a thing is possible.

It didn't take me long to decide to log out.

I am in the game now, and while I have not been kicked, the lag is getting bad. The brief respite we had were things were going OK is over. I typically run from 60 to 90 MS on my ping, this latest session, I am back to frequenctly being at 999+, and hovering around 300 to 400 MS on occasion.

    Time: 0100 hours CST, 7/4/2017
    Server: NA PC
Ping: On character log in would have 999+ ping rate. It would steady down to my average 50 - 90 ping, then shoot through the roof again.
Rain fall: Roughly 0400 hours CST, 7/4/2017 in central Texas. Severe thunderstorm with lightening.
Favorite Ice cream: I don't have a 'favorite' but will cycle through butter pecan, pralines & cream, Vanilla Bean, and Tin Roof depending on what I'm craving.

    Hope this helps ;)

Is this actually happening right now live on servers or are you just bringing up the issues from this morning again?

Because this same issue has been on going for over a week now for me... ever since last maintenance I started experiencing terrible latency.

Just so people know, the NA datacentre is in Dallas, Texas, and I suspect its Linode (as they are one of the few hosting co's that have centres in both Frankfurt and Dallas).

I have been googling around but no-one is outright reporting an attack on Linode's Dallas datacentre. They have been reported as having some severe problems though in the last 7 days.

I'm on Xbox EU and seeing very little to zero problems. In fact, its gone spookily quiet tonight, with far fewer people on lately.

This seems accurate. I'm rerouting my nodes manually using the mudfish VPN to bypass linode's nodes and im not having the bad spikes anymore. my average ping is slightly higher - around 90 instead of 78 - but i'd trade that for not having any 4k spikes any day of the week.

EDIT: i dont thikn its the server, i think its a node right next to the server that half the country is routing through. by rerouting to come in from the east instead of the west, im avoiding the spikes.

Current path is US West - Pump (im in Los angeles)
and im goign to Host US2 in Dallas Tx

Well, if you can bypass Linode, and your lag goes away rather than not being able to log into the game, Linode is not hosting.

Personally, I think they went with Level 3 for hosting.

Ping is becoming an issue. Never had issues in the past. Returned after 5 month hiatus, and since beginning of June, have had several times now where ping goes red (500-999) and it becomes unplayable. I suspect others are having the same issue, as it creates the delay, micro freezes, etc.

I am one of the fortunate ones that has had no issues the last few days with lag and ping spikes that everyone is mentioning within this thread.

In the past, I have seen ping spikes... but not the past few days...

Played with a buddy last night though who was having a horrible time... basically unplayable for him. He's in Texas as well.

Started at exact same time on July 3 and July 4. Game was fine and playable until 10pm PDT. At that exact time on BOTH days, in-game ping went from less than 130 to over 4000. Everyone in guild experienced it at the exact same time, so not ISP related. If it happens again tonight, I'll check some security websites to see if they are reporting any DDoS activity. Sounds like possible server issue (scheduled task running) or possible attack on game servers.
