Myself and a few others are getting the same issue. but they are lazy to make a post. I made a post before checking yours. And yes, everyday at night I get the same spike lag, with 999 ping each 5-10 seconds every time. Someone has mentioned about data mining from ESO after the huge update we got.
Your connection doesn't matter that much. Cyrodiil is laggy because of server side: waiting messages from the other players and performing the computation requires time. The more players on server or in the specific area the more lag. Usually no CP campaigns lag less than CP even if both are pop locked due to the more complicated calculations involving CP.

the post your refering to, the person doesnt have a clue what datamining is ;D.. so disregard that post,
Generally your ping jumps ca be to do with your isp, various reasons, google what can causes my ping to jump.. thousands of reasons, doesnt mean its teh server side, easiest way to tell when its server side, if your on voice chat with a grp of people, and they all experience the same ping at the same time.. then you can garrenttee its the server, only time ive experienced this issue , was on 2x ap event a while back, (but im on EU)

Well good job making a post too, thats the only way to find answers and get stuff handled

A shame really. I really love this game, but the ping spikes is very frustrating.............

Almost two weeks after the last post in this thread. I've been discussing this problem across multiple threads for quite a while now, so thought I'd drop a line here.
Still happening. If anything it's actually getting worse. It starts the second it hits AT&T's nodes, at least two of which cannot be avoided by any route-changing (e.g., VPN). I don't know if Zenimax can do anything about it, but it's completely ruining the game for me, some of my friends, many posters here, and likely hundreds more who aren't posting.
This sucks. If it's fixable, please fix it. If it's not, please acknowledge that we can stop maintaining hope that ESO will eventually become playable again and move on. If it can't be fixed, we're going to quit either way. It's just a matter of how much animosity we leave with and the effect that may or may not have on future projects from Zenimax.
@QuebraRegra
In this case it is "the network". A lot of us have been watching the routes very, very closely over long periods of time. It seems that for everyone, regardless of the route followed to the ESO servers, the breakdown begins the second it hits AT&T's nodes and then gets progressively worse.
Interestingly, the last hop in Garland just before it hits the servers shows wild latency swings up and down every second. I'm pretty sure that everyone goes through that node regardless of where they're coming from and what route they follow in. I have to assume that it's part of their hosting.
All of that said, we don't know how much of the problem comes from Zenimax's servers proper as they have taken great pains to make sure that their servers won't respond to any diagnostics. We also have no idea how much influence Zenimax can have when considering the problematic nodes on the way in. We do know that they have claimed to have "fixed" such routing issues in the past, even as recently as last week.
We just don't have enough information to make an absolutely correct assessment, nor has Zenimax seen fit to provide us with any of that missing info, for better or worse. It sucks and is probably going to continue to suck until everyone with connection problems quits and there is nobody left to complain. If we're in the minority, they'll probably go on like nothing happened. If, as I suspect, we aren't, we'll see how much effect that ends up having.
@MarzAttakz
It may not be just AT&T's stuff. I notice a bit of packet loss periodically through Cogent's nodes well myself. It isn't likely to be everything though, as there are plenty of people who claim consistent 50-80ms latency at all times with zero problems. Yet here we are with godawful lag spikes and unplayable conditions quite regularly. It seems to me that it's Zenimax's job to at least track down the specifics of the problem(s) and at the very least get us some info.
My path, for example, responds 20-50ms for each hop at most all the time until the very last one that everyone goes through before hitting the ESO servers proper (12.122.100.77 -- gar24.dlstx.ip.att.net). This particular hop "pings" randomly from about 45ms up to 800ms or so which fluctuates wildly every second. Given that literally every player runs through that node at least, that seems like part of Zenimax's hosting to me. I'm no network engineer, but that wild fluctuation seems like a pretty darn likely candidate for the cause of most of the problems. What do you think @QuebraRegra?
Just look at this ping! I live in NA i play in NA and have a good cable company every other game i play i can play perfectly five so tell me why am i getting 9777 ping almost every night?
