What good is the Warden Bear ?

vpy
vpy

It can't hold aggro
It can't taunt
It sucks up both the ultimate spots (ridiculous design fail)
It is very slow in attacking mobs ( most of the time is spent moving )

It amuses me that such a iconic flagship feature of the new class is so pathetic in its actual implementation

Nope, it isn't good. I used it for two weeks for the novelty and then moved back to the destruction staff ultimate.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I'm disappointed with the lack of damage this thing does for taking up my ultimate slot and as mentioned above, it's slow getting on target, sometimes it's not near me and spawns then runs in as I've killed the enemy(/enemies, etc...

I like having it so for now while I am solo questing/levelling I will keep it for the novelty but once I'm higher I'll switch it out if they don't revamp it.

Not jumped on the Warden wagon yet but I thought it would be useful with Necropotence to get the extra 4k mag.

It's a shame it takes both of the ultimate slots. I never leave home without the destro ultimate....

The bear is not worth it, in my opinion. I guess we are stuck with frost and healing ultimate until we get the weapon or one of the guild ultimates.

i like to cuddle with it after a long day of heroism

but seriously - what i think the bear needs

    - more syngergy option with the player regarding skills etc... maybe 1 of 3 different skills you can equip for the bear - so the bear has 3 different ultima skills and you need to decide which one you want to have equpped

    a) ROAR: a taunt for 10 secs + the bear gains additional armor
    b) MAUL: an aoe cleave that hits everyhing in front of the bear (maybe with an additional bleed over time)
    c) CHARGE: the bear charges the enemy and knocks him down for 3 seconds

i think aoe capabilities and a taunt would make the bear much more useful - having choice would make it more versatile

An idea is also to get more synergy - okay this is a bit out of the box, just some ideas for above

    a) you cain the additional armor as well if youre close to the bear
    b) attacking the same targets gets you +1000 penetration for 5 seconds
    c) stun is increased 50% if you heavy attack / charge the target the same time the bear lands

The bear is a constant presence when slotted. idk why its an ultimate over a simple pet slot like sorcs, but regardless with no "cooldown" in the form of a timer for activation, this thing would be too OP if it did more damage. thats like me saying sorc pets should do more dmg because thats essentially what the bear ultimate is.

Single target damage is okay, that is true, but that's about all.

Some AOE would have been nice maybe a taunt and especially for ranged a charge. Playing solo most things are dead before the bear reaches the target.

Overall the gameplay with bear is somewhat boring. As a melee I would have liked a gameplay more like that of a White Lion in Warhammer Online back then.

Wardens just use the "Betty Netch" which only needs to be on one bar, counts as a pet and therefore procs necropotence set

Anyone tried it with the Hunt leader set? With DW heavy attack being pretty quick and the class having constant access to major expedition, this could make for some nice sustain and healing, at least on paper.

(5 items) When your pet attacks an enemy you have also attacked recently, you heal for 2433 Health and restore 1216 Stamina. This effect can occur once every 5 seconds.

Bear should have been normal skill, not an ultimate. As it stands it's just a toy.

You don't need the bear to get the necropotence bonus. The netch also gives it (yay!!!!). In endgame builds, you probably won't be using the bear.

It does like 50k crit in execute range lol.. maybe you are asking too much out of it? There are many ults you can replace it with if its not cutting it for you

According to parses, the bear adds about a good 2-3k DPS when it acts right. I do wish it dealt more AoE damage though and had a charge ability.

For example, what if the Magicka and Stamina morphs were a bit more interesting? For example, the "Eternal Guardian" Morph could allow the bear to do an AoE ability that did large magic damage every 3 melee strikes thus giving it a balanced AoE potential. Furthermore, the ult would no longer be a weak strike with a barely noticeable animation, give it a teleport strike that still performs the execute.

Likewise, the Stamina counterpart would be similar, accept with more damage. For example, instead of a magical damage AoE ability that is done every so often, give the bear sweeping strikes that allowed the bear to deal damage in a cone every strike. With that, give the bear a swift charge ability on its' own ult cast along with the execute.

    tl;dr version:

    Eternal guardian-
*Does a high damage magical/ice damage AoE spell every 3 strikes
*Its' execute turns into a teleport strike
    *keeps its' resurrection

    Wild Guardian-
*Every attack it does deals physical damage in a cone.
*Gets extra bonus auto attack damage on top of the Eternal Guardian
*Its' execute turns into a savage charge attack

This would further add difference in the two ults and make both morphs attractive to both play styles. Both damage wise and aesthetic wise.
