Trials and the bear ultimate

I am currently working on creating my first damage dealer for trials and dungeons, a stamina warden, based on a build made by Alcast Stamina Warden - Racer.

I am just wondering...everybody is against having sorcs using their pets in dungeons etc. for reasons such as to not pull mobs away from the tank and because well, they can be pretty useless, but what about the warden bear?
Will it interfere?
Will it be too annoying for other players if I bring him in?
Any other more efficient warden build I could use?

Only reasons some are against sorc pets are in situations where you dont want the scamp to cause cc immumity on certain add mobs. Control the bear well enough and you can use it whenever. If a tank complains then they need to learn to taunt more and be better with their cc. That is as long as you do indeed control the bear right.

Thank you! But what do you mean to control the bear? The only way I know how to "control" it is by activating the ultimate on certain mobs, I dont know how other than that :(...

Heavy attacks direct your pet aggro (One PC there is a keybind though)

I don't think it's worth slotting for a trial simply because it's hard to control. Plus, it has no aoe damage. I don't really know how strong it is because I'm still low level but so far I'm not really impressed. It's like a much dumber version of the clannfear.

It works on the first tick of a lightning or resto staff heavy attack btw for quick animation cancelling redirects

Hmmmmm then I might need to find a different build or maybe try another class for trial damage :(...

Stam wardens have a lot of AoE skills to use, they don't necessarly need a AoE Ultimate. But if you really want one that is stamina oriented and useful for the warden then use the Fighters guild or Dual Wield ultimate for strong physical damage ultimates. I say test the bear for yourself first. Those shalks of yours plus weapon skill will give you a great source of AoE Damage if you learn how to do it well.

    1. Pets CANNOT aggro over a tank
    2. Seems to go to your heavy weapon attack target so it can be controlled a bit

Another problem with pets is that they steal buffs. For example combat prayer can affect max of 6 players. 2 healers are using Combat Prayer so whole 12-man group will get the buff, unless there are pet in there. If 2 pets get combat prayer, 2 players will be without it.

Not 100% sure, but I think they built at least the bear against that, since it gets any buffs that the player has. I don't think it takes buffs directly. oc I may be wrong.

The bear looks fine to me expect 1 thing: he'll get rekt at some point and you're gonna spend 2.5sec casting it again (and if you're doing about 40k DPS, that's 100k damage lost). That's why I think that even for a stamina Warden, the Eternal Guardian morph is better (after all, it scales with everything just like any other ultimate except Elemental Expert CP). Its not like the bear will be dying every 10 sec, so the 1min cooldown is going to be fine.

All buffs prioritize players over pets. So its actually a pretty rare thing that pets actually steal buffs from players. Obviously, if someone is outside the stack, the pet will steal the buff yeah. If you're well positioned, shouldn't be happening.

Not that many things that can kill pets if they are on the boss, even the scamps are pretty tanky and the bear is more so than the scamp. However, 1st boss of Maw will kill them with the Pillar explosion, vSO HM last boss will kill them if hit by world shaper, and I think a few other things too.

The most dangerous thing is that they will on some boss fights also get attack by certain mechanics and can cause a hazard for Melee players and tanks. See Star fall on the warrior or the Barrier phase on 1st boss in Maw, or execute on assembly general. It causes AoE's to originate from the pets just as it does with the players, and since you cant control their exact location this can lead to problems. They will also spread chain lightning on the mage in AA, a pretty big problem if you are trying to do HM.
