Is support always as dumb as a box of hammers?

Does support not recognize Bestbuy as a national retailer? Does support not read attached receipts? Does support not realize CE collectibles are not a preorder bonus? Does Zenimax sell standard edition codes to retailers and tell them it's the collectors edition?

How long have you been in contact with support? Because here's the thing: the first couple email correspondences are probably a canned auto-response based on keywords. So support may not necessarily be dumb... it may just be a computer atm.

Keep replying to the emails. You'll get a person to actually read your problem eventually, and once you do, they're generally quite helpful.

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

    Hi Azphira –

Thanks for your pre-order, and for posting. It’s concerning to hear you may have not received the collector’s edition and its associated in-game bonus items, which I’ll be happy to look into and advise you on.

Using the information you registered with our forums I was able to locate and review your order. It does appear that you were correctly sent a Collector’s Edition Key, so I’m unsure what you’re seeing that would indicate otherwise. If you’re unable to locate your in-game bonus items associate with the Collectors Edition please follow this ESO FAQ to locate and redeem them.

    Regards,

    Let's clarify:

You bought the base game from steam...?

You bought a regular physical CE - not through steam but Best Buy?

Really, that's a problem with the retailer though, isn't it? If my retailer sold me a Pony and told me it was a horse-- and I went to ZOS And they're like "that's one our ponies not a horse" -- I'd go to Bestbuy and ask them to give me the horse they advertised.

I suppose it's harder to tell when it comes to a code though if it's the code that's faulty or what was sold to you that's wrong. Blaming it squarely on ZOS out of the gate though probably isn't smart. I'd ask to escalate your support ticket with ZOS if there's still any question.

What I think happened is best buy sold me the correct keys for the preorder and CE and ZOS's system screwed up and activated them as standard editions.

You'd think logic alone would question why I would buy 2 standard editions for the same account.

I still don't know what you are talking about. The physical collectors edition contains 1 code.

What is a collectors edition upgrade?

Do you have an ESO account through steam or not? Are you actually on PC at all?

So what are you missing, the grey warbear for example?

You still haven't answered if you have a steam account or not.

See if you need to apply this to an account registered with steam you might also have to order through steam.

Now I'm not sure how you are wording your problem with support, but nowhere did I understand that you entered one code and got two registrations out of it.

This is like pulling teeth though, so I'm going to bow out of this thread. Good luck.

It would appear ZOS sells 4 keys you have to activate to Namco, that Namco then sells to Bestbuy... My god it's just a game, not a nuke launch sequence...

From what I am understanding is you ordered the CE upgrade from Best Buy. You entered the code into your account and it comes out as the Standard Edition.

ZOS did not give you Standard Edition codes. Best Buy did. You need to take this up with Best Buy.

Now you also need to answer the question that you did not answer.

Where did you buy your base game from.

It seems they send 2 sets, steam and eso, instead of eso saying invalid keys it accepts them and makes you think you got the wrong version.

ZOS is the supplier to the different retailers. Then those retailers sell them. The retailer gave you the wrong copies. ZOS can't do anything as it is a retailer issue. You need to go into the retailer, show them the receipts. Login to your account on your smartphone or tablet if you have one and show them in your account that you got standard editions not the collector editions that you paid for.

Pssst, it was fixed in #17

I am now the proud owner of 2 standard editions and 2 collectors editions in my transaction history.

Seems ZOS supplies 4 copies per person to Bestbuy. *shrug*
