Stam Warden + Hunt Leader?

I tested this as soon as I got my stam warden up to level 50 using combat metrics addon. With the bear ulti and no other pets active, and saw the stam return proc from the Hunt Leader set. I was only using light/heavy attacks otherwise. I tested without the bear ultimate using birds and shalks and saw no procs at all. This was a few incremental patches ago.

I do not recall if I tested the fletcherflies or not.

The funny thing is that I was so interested in the stam return on the proc that I completely ignored the heal - that would have made testing simpler with the addons I already had installed lol.

I was disappointed, but I suppose it is no huge deal since this means I do not have to farm up the jewelry. Perhaps they will fix this if it is not working as intended. I also hadn't even thought about using it with a stamblade...kind of a cool idea there.

@ZOS_GinaBruno , do you know if this set is supposed to proc off of the Warden's non-persistent, damage-dealing animal companions (aka birds, shalks and flies), or is it only intended to work with the bear for Wardens?

I think they ninja nerfed it. Just like they won't allow us to nature's grasp to keep guards

I will jump in to answer it for them (because they will probably ignore you) -> it is supposed to work with PETS, and only bear and netch are pets. Bird/shalks/flies are just animal looking spells.

I am fairly certain that the Maelstrom sets follow the same rules as the DSA sets. Because Master and Maelstrom weapons drop from the final chest on Veteran, you must do this dungeon on Normal to obtain the weapons/shields from the sets in the final chest. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall getting a Maelstrom set weapon recently when getting the trophy on normal.

So it doesn't work with birds/shalks then? That's disappointing.


I guess ZOS wants there to be useless sets in the game and that every stam build regardless of class wears the same *** in PvP as well.

Except bird, shalks, flies heal you because of the passive

Except what? Nowhere in the passive it says anything about being healed only by pets.
(Actually even if it were stated there, it has no meaning outside of warden context, pets are pretty well defined "term" and to make hunt leader work with all warden animal skills they would have to change the description of the set, not description of the skills)

sorry i was referencing the warden animal companion passives. So yea, no meaning outside of warden context.

Actually i double checked for the hunt leader :

(5 items) When your pet attacks an enemy you have also attacked recently, you heal for 2433 Health and restore 1216 Stamina. This effect can occur once every 5 seconds

Given that, it's a shame that it doesn't work with bird, shalk, and flies

This. Out of the plethora of sets in the game currently, theres probably 5% thats considered worthwhile in pvp for stambuilds.

Just checking, but does anyone know if zos ever clarified that it does not work and that it's intended, or did they maybe patch it to work?

ZoS did not clarify anything, but they dont have to. It works with pets and it works with the only pet (that does damage) warden has - the bear.

There are a lot of sets that could use an update. With more than 300 sets in game, ZOS would miss out on a few. Hunt Leader seems like one of them. With the amount of work required to get it, I feel like it is still rather underpowered.
