When is War Horn not useful in dugeons?

War horn

Sound a war horn to rally your forces, increasing Max Magicka, Health, and Stamina for you and your allies by 10% for 30 seconds.
You and your allies also gain Major Force, increasing your Critical Strike damage by 30% for 8 seconds.
Critical Strikes do more damage

Storm Atronach

Summon a greater storm atronach at the target location. The atronach’s arrival deals [x] Shock Damage and stuns nearby enemies for 3 seconds. The atronach cannot move but attacks the nearest enemy for 15% more damage.
An ally can activate Charged Lighting, giving both the ally and the atronach Major Berserk, increasing their damage by 25% for 8 seconds.

So I am sitting here thinking war horn or Greater Storm Atronach? Here's some my thoughts on the matter. In random dugeons when dps is slow or underpeforming than a damage ulimtiate is a better choice or a debuff/ buff ultimate. The same goes for if one dps is of significantly higher magnitude either dps could use it and have a higher benefit. Then again dps about average than this would be best choice here.

Warhorn is good when everyone knows what they are doing while having enough champion points to get maximum benefit from it. As such upper level dps would benefit for extra 10% in resources along with major force while taking less benefit from say barrier, nova, storm attonach, mamga amour. At least those are my thoughts on the matter. What say you?

    I agree. In some groups where I notice that the dps is rather lackluster, I sometimes prefer using Nova instead of Warhorn. It just feels more effective. Even more so in the off chance someone actually activates it. :D

    If your Damage dealers DPS is low Warhorn won't save them. Nova, Barrier, Magma shell and other protective ultimates will be better used there. Oh and the Storm atro, seems great, its not, the synergy is only for one person. Rather buff both Damage dealers rather than just the one, but I guess if you tell your friend that you know is good dps to pick it up quickly before the other guy if said other guy is low dps that could work, but even if other guy is low help him out if your friend can carry him.

    If I'm in a pug vet dungeon sometimes warhorn makes things faster with a good group but if the dps is garbage boosting them doesn't do much.

    Something to consider is that a lot of times allies won't activate synergies even if there's no good reason not to. Whereas the War Horn ultimate is just activated by the user and is forced upon the group, for the better.

    Just remind your group about your synergies from time to time to make sure they are not wasted. I do that when using Undaunted Necrotic Orb. Btw. which morph from Necrotic Orb is better for group dungeons?

    When you have 5k dps and it's 80% of the group DPS.

    Mystic is probably better for 4 man as you are probably over healing in them anyways. Energy orbs are better for trials.

    As other posters said, 10% of low dps isn't still low dps. When playing with bad players, the healing morph of negate or barrier are better ults to keep them alive.

    I'd recommend not playing with super low dps pugs if you're a healer. From what I've seen so far, it's not just tedious, you're also very likely to get blamed for any deaths or wipes (for example, once I was bashed for not outhealing Bloodspawns cave collapse lol). I'd even say that 99% of my horrible dungeon experience were related to bad dds (I mostly tank and heal so...).
    I think that if you really want to play with pugs, its better to swap out most of your healing skills and gear and use all the dps opportunities you have. Stuff like combat prayer, war horn, spc, orbs... These things wont help if your dds spam bow light attacks and refuse to use synergies. And if you're lucky and your dds are more or less decent its easy to swap the gear and skills anyway.

    Warhorn is kind of obsolete in dungeons. If you are in a group that knows what they are doing *** should be dying so fast that a warhorn would be wasted. If not then theres no sense in polishing a turd.
