PoL, Does it need a nerf?

    Power of the Light....vs Stamblade...

You REALLY can't figure out how to beat this one?

    Nightblade counters to PotL:
Blur -- either morph -- is going to massively reduce the damage you take during its active window

Ambush + Invis in their face + Surprise Attack -- that stun is going to eat stam for the breakfree, eat some of the time during which they need to apply damage, and not let them fire it off again as easily. The snare is going to let you dance around them nicely also -- no you can't dodge Jabs, but it IS directional, once you are out of it's cone, very VERY few templars know how to turn to keep it on you.

Summon Shade -- that minor maim is your friend. The archer morph lets you keep doing damage while dodging (albeit for less damage) and gives you a "free" escape if they try to get cutesy

    Weapon counters to PotL:
2H: Cleave: Brawler Morph -- damage+dot+damage shield to mitigate its damage. All in all a good counter. Also AoE so they aren't dodging it either.

2H: Forward Momentum -- yeah, you are giving up the extra heal, to make sure they CAN'T cc you while you have PotL active on you. Not too bad of a trade to avoid taking more damage.

DW: Deadly Cloak -- guess what, Jabs is an AOE! That 20% reduction applies.

Bow: Draining Shot -- knockback + disorient and when it wears off you get a heal; stops them stacking damage on it.

Lifeboard (1H+Shield) -- Low Slash -- again, Minor Maim is your friend. Makes it much harder to stack the damage, and reduces the damage it'll do on top of that anyway.

Shielded Assault -- Gap Close + (small) Damage Shield + Stun. Stop the damage stacking before they can do it, and eat up their stam so they can't recast it easily.

Reverberating Bash -- Stun + Major Defile, to keep them from healing themselves up, while again forcing them to burn stam or eat your damage.

    Guild counters to PotL:
Fighters Guild: Dawnbreaker of Smithing -- 2.5s knockdown + damage on a 6s skill window. That's 2.5s for you to HAMMER them to hell while they can't do anything back to you.

Fighters Guild: Turn Undead -- 8% damage reduction + stam recovery + if they are a vamp a nice little stun on top of it, +the % damage bonuses from being a FG skill.

Undaunted: Spiked Bone Shield -- small damage shield that will return damage back while they are trying to stack it on you -- i.e. making yourself into a pseudo-DK.

    Gear counters:
    Crafted:
Song of Lamae -- health bonus + low hp shield+heal
Whitestrake: -- health bonus + low hp large damage shield
Deaths wind: health bonus + low hp AoE knockdown
Eternal Hunt -- roll into them to place the rune, so they now have to move away from you or take a big chunk of damage

    Dropped:
Leki's Focus -- 25% aoe damage reduction -- hey look, again, Jabs is AOE. Stack with Deadly cloak for the lolz.

Night Terror armor -- make it into a real "base race" -- they are going to be damage themselves everytime they hit you, making it hurt them even more to try to stack up PotL on you, enough so that with your own skills, you may end up killing them before it goes off anyway.

Undaunted Infiltrator: More mag for casting purge/blur/etc, + light attack damage bonus for having used it. Along with whatever benefits it gives.

Witchman's Armor + Death Strike morphs: Heal mofo (Stam and Health)

Buffer of the Swift: 5% damage reduction from players + chance to proc damage shield that lasts 6s when you take damage from a spell (PotL counts). 4s CD on the proc.

Para Bellum: A nice damage shield for before having engaged the fight + max stam.
Hunt Leader: 2k heal + 1k stam restore for attacking same target as your pet (shadows bow/melee from NB skill: Summon Shade count towards this) -- 5s CD though.

Hide of Morihaus: Let them cast it, then roll dodge THROUGH them to deal some damage + knockdown for 3s (i.e. half the duration of the skill)

--- Is that enough counters for you (besides the ones that have been listed already)?

NO! No! No! No! No! Will you PvP players stop asking for nerfs just because you can't figure out how to beat a particular skill or defeat a particular player? You screw everything up for PvE players.

How much more do you people want to take away from Templars anyway. PoL is a great skill in PvE. Not over powered at all.

I wish ZOS would separate PvP and PvE balance, but since they won't, I can't even find the words to tell you how frustrating it is that PvP players are constantly looking for nerfs without taking the rest of the game into consideration.

PvP or PvE is irrelevant on this one. This is more a case of a bad player whining because they can't figure out how to slot in one of the many, many, MANY available counters to PotL.

Although I agree with your second sentence, I disagree that PvP or PvE is irrelevant on this one. It is very relevant, because ZOS listens to PvP players the most. If enough of them scream for a nerf to a skill, it will happen. And it always, always screws up PvE players. Like I said...I wish ZOS would separate PvP and PvE balance, but they refuse to. So we have these kinds of situations where one or more PvP players complain like the OP has done. So, so frustrating.

The main difference is that you can nerf PvE to the ground all you want -- we'll just find a way to make other skills effective instead.

Well some will, others will whine and cry and scream "The Sky is Falling!" until it's figured out for them.

Here's one of my first skirmishes after the Power of the Light buff - at ~0:57 you will see why PotL could use a tiny bit of adjustment B)

    https://youtu.be/mtJDjyrNtQE

I get kills like this all the time. I'm glad that the skill is useful now (especially against blocktards!) and I think the overall damage is great, but I do think they should move some of the damage from the end burst into a DOT over the 6s.
