Warning About Buying Morrowind From Steam

If you buy the Morrowind expansion through Steam be warned that you will NOT have access to Vvardenfell unless you login to ESO via Steam. If you need to login via a non-Steam installation (which has worked perfectly up until patch 14), then you will only have access to the base game. As things stand at the moment, this is a permanent affect - you need to login via Steam EVERY time.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_RichLambert This is very poor form ZOS - at the very least you should have put a prominent warning on the Steam versions to this affect. Please apply the Morrowind code to accounts permanently upon first login through Steam.

Same here , i hope this will be fixed , i know , there has been made some changes to steam , to make people play the game from there or use some tools from steam , like buying crown etc.., but not everyone like steam , and now we have to open it everytime , to play morrowind expansion , if my base account is linked to the steam one and i have bought the chapter why i shouldnt have access without opening steam , using the .exe , i dont understand , is this an early access issue or it is permanent thing .

I'm a little confused. Buy something on steam, shouldn't you expect to access it via steam?

Does it provide some sort of product code if you click view CD key? Maybe you can use that code to add it to your account?

I normally login from the game file. I dislike seeing the you have XXxX xXxX hours played XD

I contacted Steam about that. They directed me to contact ESO support with the transaction ID. I know you used to be able to just right click on a product to view it's keys, but them seem to be keeping those hidden from consumers at this point. This is becoming quite a hassle, to just launch and play a game how I want to and have previously been. Hopefully it is just a early access fiasco and not a permanent annoyance.

I thought this was how all Steam games worked. It's part of why I avoid using it unless there's no alternative.

I like Steam, all my games are on Steam and that's how I normally run them. I do however, get out occasionally and find myself visiting places that have PCs without Steam installed.

Up until the latest patch this has not been an issue and has not prevented me from getting my daily ESO fix.

Before you ask - when travelling I take a USB3 SSD with the complete ESO install with me.

There is no other way for my country to buy the game , so steam was the unique choise i had , bought the base game from steam , played from .exe since always , now i cant .

Agreed!
It used to work without Steam, I dont understand why it was changed without warning.
