Console pts experience

As a console player, it's difficult to test things on the pts without character copies. Having little to no friends or guild mates is no help either.

Could console players get character copies for future pts?

Problem is think they only copied from PC/MAC and not sure if it is a code issue that prevents them doing the copies of any of the Console. One quick way is to create a template char and get it to be close to what you have on console and that allow you to do some of the testing. Just be aware the PTS chars get regularly purged so would have to reset that char each time.

Possible yes, but surely a lot of work. PC/Mac transfer works (guesswork here from my IT perspective) by coping the PC player database on the empty PTS database (templates will most likely be created via scripts afterwards). Each player resource has a unique playerid and these are by now overlapping between the platforms. It would be a ton of work to check these during inserts.
So technically possible yes, but the amount of work required makes that not feasible. That's IMHO also the reason why we don't have platform transfers.

That is disappointing. There should be a way to make pts testing for console players less of a hassle. When I get on the pts, I am deterred by all the work and time I have to put for testing only to have everything gone the following week.

Pts testing is not intended for console players. The only way console players have pts access is through a pc account. They won't accommodate the few people who mainly play on console but also use pts. It is unfortunate and I feel your pain. I haven't played my pc characters for 2 years because I transferred to PS4.

I wish and hope they also do an in-depth testing for Console players... Buff trackers are a boon for console players and give us answers on some things that are impossible for us to know without confirmation from PC players. Examples:

    - Is Weapon Damage debuf from the Mending Set and the weapon enchantment work on all bosses and trash mobs? We don't have any indicator or visual cue if the debuff is correctly applied. Only the sense of taking less damage...
    - When do certain enchantment proc? How can we tell?

We are not asking easy mode crutches like messages "Block/Purge now" or on vmol with the "Incoming Eclipse Field" (from sun eaters) messages which makes me chuckle, but these buff trackers will allow console players to study their build and not always rely on information coming from PC players. Hopefully we will also have in the near future a Parse/Debuff/Buff Summary and report.

Also Console has been plagued for over 3 months with serious lags, freezes, and bugs on trials. A PTS for console could maybe identify these issues with community reports in order to solve them. Also maybe prevent further exploits too...
