Wait, so one dps didn't do his job and the remaining 7 couldn't clear vMoL without his help? I thought he was intentionally bombing the group or "failing" to complete runner assignments, or was a tank and decided not to hold the boss.

Your numbers don't add up for me, but hey, I understand the position all the same.

Exactly reasons like this is why i mainly solo in MMOs now. I have raided a lot before in past games but yet to do a trial in ESO and i have been playing since PC beta and launch on and off. MMO communities are really toxic and the immature elitist attitudes just arent worth it for me now. I realize its just a game so i just log on and enjoy doing smaller things and the easier dungeons for the most part but they are just so face roll. It does suck for you man, i use to raid a lot so i understand trying to complete or get an item you want. Kinda sucks for me cause i absolutely would love to do trials in this game but wont even join a normal one cause of dealing with the mmo community.

You asked why they would do this, the likely answer is your perception of your reaction was not shared by the other party.

Perhaps not only did they think it was over the top, but they perceived it to be hostile and extremely negative to them personally. As a result they create the conditions by which you experienced a similarly negative situation.

A very hard thing for some people to learn is just because you feel or see things one way doesnt mean others share your point of view.

Someone who was a mutual friend between me and the other person told me they admitted to ruining the run for me.

If he knows the friend he talked to was a mutual friend, he could have said so assuming the friend would let you know.

By doing that, regardless if he actually did it or not, he would mess with you head, put himself in a position of power over you and make himself look like a more competent player than he actually is.

I know what its like with anxiety/meds, its ruined certain social interactions for me in other MMOs (i.e WoW). One thing you have to accept is the other party is probably not going to understand your reaction, and you can't really expect them to. Only you know how you're feeling.
In any case cutting them out was definitely the best way to go! I hope you get your clear soon!

At rakkhat, having one person's dps missing isn't going to ruin the run unless the other 7 dps are equally terrible.

At worst case, you can go through lunar phase even with low dps. The only thing I know of where one person can really ruin a run is blowing people up with unstable void and not moving the tethers out of group.

Simply having lower dps won't make a difference unless the group doesn't want to go through lunar and that one person is lowering the group dps to the point of going into lunar.

Idk about now, the ye ole core (not the tanks and healers) group leaned on this person's dps a bit. A crutch, persay. I guess I should also mention I'm 98% sure they purposely didn't grab the pads during execute phase.

I can't disagree. Their ego was what I had an issue with, and frankly, it'll be his downfall if he doesn't stop holding a grudge. The person he told that about no longer likes him, and another really sweet kid who idolized him doesn't like him either now. And I've told some elite buddies of mine when I was really upset, and just don't think he's that great now.

If he was a runner he can consistently wipe whole group "oh soz i missed one dancer, ill get it next time", or "sorry i didnt see that bomb or he could deliberately stand on tanks pad to steal lunar bastion buff.

Unless you're planning on quitting ESO, you'll have to adapt. A game shouldn't stress you so I think you should go do something else for a while (personally that'd be fishing or another ESO related thing but it doesn't have to be). Unfortunately this isn't how things in online gaming communities work. As you mention the player is being leaned on for being good, and in that particular setup he can be the make or break for a raid. You will find that if their raid group shuns him, he will be picked up by another team and still have fun while the raid group is left to try find someone just to be able to complete (my understanding is based on what I read in your writings).

In gaming communities, people tend to favour getting their goals met over the rest of the stuff that happens. As you experienced, you are quite emotional over not achieving your goal resulting in a public post. So you have proof within your own experiences to know that goals within the game are large motivators for people.

What would you put up with to complete? Would you sit in on a group and be silent for a completion? Would others sit in a group with this person you dislike and be silent for their completion? People are just here to play the game after all.

I write this to give you insight in to the gaming community. Hopefully not to upset you as you have already experienced an unpleasant experience. My hope is to inspire you to look beyond the event, let go of your own grudge and focus on a future for yourself. There are many paths this experience can take you and many many conglomerations of players in similar circumstance running trials on the server.

Good luck to you out there and I hope you find the enjoyment in chasing your goal again.

This is one example of many where players become petty for no real reason.

ESO and other MMO games attract a lot of players and just like in real life there is a wide range of personalities in the mix.

In real life there are "real" consequences to being a jerk particurlarly socially however hidden under an alias in a game suppressed attitudes can come out and affect others in not nice ways. From kicking someone in a group (like before the last boss) to specifically targeting one or more other players for special attention.

Decisions we make in life defines our character and not dealing with suppressed parts of our personality comes out eventually. I would say it is better it comes out within an online game than through physical confrontation however this is ONLY relevant if the person with the issues recognises it is happening.

This does not help you in the short term but just like in real life we cross people off our list contacts and add new ones all the time so just look at this the same way and then you have grown yourself

Maw is the perfect place where 1 person can whipe a group. Mechanics there cause your team to die vs yourself.
