NDA and Preventing Other Discussions

SupremeChaotic
Hey all,

I'm the lead admin for the facebook group ESO Xbox One Community with a little over 12k members. We had been taking a strict stance against people posting information from the beta, but recently it's began to cause some drama because people aren't interested in following the NDA and would rather argue with us admins and moderators. Because of this, I'm having a hard time explaining it in a way that people will understand and cease posting screenshots and videos and such. That being said, I could use some suggestions on how to approach the issue and how to publicly address it.

Also, is there anything specific in the beta (outside the PTS patch notes) that is allowed to be discussed? I don't want to prohibit things that are actually not covered by the NDA. Thanks!

Anything dealing with live classes afaik.
  • SupremeChaotic
Right, which is on the publicly available PTS patch notes, so I'm sure I'm okay with those.

As long as it's not purely Morrowind related (area, quest, trial, battleground, warden), the DNA is respected, basically.

Well depending how popular you want to be, you could tell them any breeched of NDA will be reported to ZOS directly.

I mean, is there an easier way to explain it other than "You can be banned if you post content which breaks NDA, please don't risk you account by doing so."

As for what's under NDA anything inside Vvardenfel, the new trial, battlegrounds and the Warden, unless you've been given permission by ZOS directly to show some content from it.

I've tried explaining multiple ways why we don't allow it. It leads to bans, can get people removed, can even have our page shut down if ZoS wanted to. But we're still nazis, communists and dictators. lol Was just hoping someone else in a similar position may have been able to deal with it.

We've started removing people at this point. It's not what I wanted to do, but I really don't see any other option.

However, keep in mind, where zoos has allowed video content to be released by some streamers, those videos should be outside coverage.

So if an approved streamer shows a warden dps of 30k using bear and bow you can cite that and reference that but not your own in game warden. Alternativel, if a streamer showed furnishing in approved stream, you could discuss those shown in that vid... But not other you have seen inside morrow test.

So as an admin, if I were one, I would be emphasizing that to serve as a frame for thier discussions. It even helps if both sides in an argu... Discussion can see same video link.

There are a couple grey areas. Such as how your toon preformed in battlegrounds, providing you are talking about toons that are currently on live. Pretty sure you can even talk about how the existing classes perform in the new trial.

In the end I wouldn't worry about it as it isn't really on you to uphold an agreement between 2 other people. So long as you aren't leaking out I wouldn't worry about it. Fairly certain people can find anything they want to know about morrowind if they just do a little digging.

But I have never been the one to worry about if others are following rules. So I personally would just let everyone know if they post things under the NDA then they run the risk of losing access or being banned from eso.
  • SupremeChaotic
Didn't think about allowing discussions of videos from approved sources. That's a great idea! Thanks!

Is there a list of approved streamers available I can use?

As for the not allowing them, we're a "fair play" community. We don't allow discussions for hacks, cheats, exploits or anything that would violate the game ToS. We try to keep it as clean and safe as possible. :)

Think of it this way. If its inside the landmass of Morrowind, screenshots, quests, etc, its under the NDA.
The warden class can only be made if you own Morrowind, so its under the NDA.
If its a gear set not currently in game, its under the NDA.
Adding from a comment above... Battlegrounds are only in Morrowind, only with that xpac, and so are under the NDA.

If its a class currently in game and having skill changes, its fair game.
If its a champion point thing, its fair game.
If it is a gear set currently in game, its fair game.

Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.
  • SupremeChaotic
Yeah, I had assumed that was about right but wanted to make sure. It's not very clear in the NDA itself, at least not that I saw. I very well could have missed it.

I think at this point, I just need to get a list of approved streamers and I'll be good to go. I think that should work out okay.
  • SupremeChaotic
@ZOS_GinaBruno , is it possible to get a list of people approved to display or stream content from the beta?

Ehhhh... Sorry, OP, can't help you much, but every little bit counts, right? :)

    Here, Gilliam the Rogue: https://www.youtube.com/user/Scrubmydinner/videos
    and Alcast: https://www.youtube.com/user/littlejohn117/videos

Those two are certainly allowed - and both have posted Warden-related content. Sorry, don't know anyone else :(

No, I appreciate it. Every little bit helps! Thanks, @Dantaria !

    It's real confusing.

I was one of the content creator's that was given permission to post content, we had to follow some strict guidelines as to what we could talk about, length of videos etc. So even I'm confused.

We do know for sure that class balance of the base game classes is no longer under NDA.

Performance of these classes inside of battlegrounds is not under NDA.

The Warden class (AFAIK) is still under NDA, but the content creators are allowed to make content on it.

Vvardenfell zone/quests is still under NDA aside from some very specific things the content creators are allowed to share (initial quests and certain areas).

If you are not one of the content creators (there is no list) ALL of Morrowind (includes new trial, zone itself, stories and battlegrounds) are under NDA. Of course, discussing something (for example - Warden) that a content creator posted on is not against NDA, as you are discussing something that isn't under NDA... but you can't talk about your experience as a Warden.

    Yeah.. good luck.

tbh its their own damn mess and they know it. Zenimax caused this confusion and I think they would be hard pressed to ban anyone over any combat or gameplay related reports. Like "Warden DPS sucks on PTS". However, quest spoilers they could and probably will punish.
  • SupremeChaotic
I agree it's a bit confusing, especially for those of us that are wanting to play by the rules and make sure our pages are playing by the rules as well. But, I'm sure Zenimax has their reasons.
