One can get 20k - 40k cash from 45 min of crafting, by relogging ten toons, and then legendary tempers, surveys and master writs on top of that. Compare that to 45 min of average questing.

Do not forget the mats you use for crafting writs. Nirnroot and Ancestor Silk are super expensive and you need them to do your writs. Farming mats makes way more money.

Questing is enjoyable, I don't think relogging 10 times is enjoyable at all, so there's the catch.

Funny, wasn't there a thread just the other day complaining crafting is a waste of time and gold?

Researching traits is easy, just takes some time(and gold for the nirnhoned ones), learning motifs...if you wanna be really master crafter and know ALL the motifs, better be ready to either hardcore farm for months or blow a few million gold on that. Gonna take a while for writs to pay back for that. Crafting writs are nice but I personally am not sure how people manage to do them on 5+ toons, I was doing them on 4 during anniversary event and I was permanently out of mats(surveys were nowhere near enough to pay back for that) after having started with like 1-2k of each material at the start of it, having to either farm or buy stacks of ancestor silk for 14k. I just do them on one toon now, the tempers and occasional master writs are nice.

You can earn some gold crafting stuff too but crafted sets aren't really in high demand except for leveling now. Imo there're faster and easier ways to make gold, farming mats/item sets, farming tel var etc.

If you are talking about doing the daily writs, as the main source of income - no wonder you find it tedious.

Sure the 4k per toom is a nice by product, but it's a very slow way to make Gold compared to other sources.

You need to remember basic questing is the main gig in the game, if that was the best gold earner who would do anything else? Economy needs to be separate from main function else the game would be very flat. Who would bother trading, or thieving, or fishing etc

Oh boy, you are so wrong.
You (and by some extent me too) are able to make that amount of money with crafting because we invested a LOT of time researching items, deconing and buying motifs, things that the average short term players don't care.

    Just some examples:
While most players sell their intricate items to vendors or guild traders we saved it for decon.
While most players went straight do their favorite activity as soon as they logged in, we spent time, inventory management and money researching traits.
If you are receiving hireling mail in all those toons it means you actually went out and grabbed skyshards WAY more than the average player, otherwise you wouldnt have spare skill points to level the crafting line (10 skills points = 30 skyshards) and the hireling (3 skill points = 9 skyshards).
For each toon receiving all hireling mails on max level = 50 skill points + 15 skill points (195 skyshards).
7 toons receiving all hireling mails on max level = 350 skill points + 105 skill points (2415 skyshards).

We have what we deserve, all master crafters trade time having fun (questing and pvping) for a long therm goal.
    @alephthiago

    Your last equation is incorrect.
    455 * 3 = 1365

Allow crafter to re-retrait item would solve alot of crafting issue. Crafting would actually be useful.

Since crafting is so easy to max out, re-trait item wouldn't be overpower either. Everyone can do it.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

    and jewelry

    thx

wait crafting is easy to max out?

2x weeks for your 7th trait with all 4 points into reduce time; 21 armor pieces, 12 weapons, 1 shield for a total of 34 items to get researched, divided by 3 for how many you can research at the same time for... about 11 reps of 30+ day research.

That's a lot of time you can't bypass. Crafting should be more powerful, able to reforge traits, styles, and upgrade jewelry.

I wonder how many times players has suggest something like this on forum. Probably not going to happen since ZOS has no other way to keep players in this game longer.

Crafting and farming should give high rewards. Agree that fewer will prb craft and farm if quests are equally rewarding. But quest rewards should still be much higher than now, just so that we can afford to buy houses and furniture, and other expensive stuff.

The cheapest houses are what, 60k? I'm not sure I see the problem. A day or two of questing?
