I find this with highlights of Dwarven Brass to be a great combo. For a lot of the metals I use the common iron one (forget the exact name) or Windhelm Steel. Most of the others have too much of a blueish hue to them.

My Bosmer's colors are shades that are close to forest green, loam brown and buckskin tan. The exact in game colors change on different outfits as the same shade can look different on different outfits.

I used to dye my Armor all the time before I bought the Elder Councilor Tunic, which is now equipped 100% of the time, and I use whichever Dye Stamp (cause of non-sub) that looks best to me, which is usually a dark color if not outright black.

But before my nothing-but-costume days I'd go with Coldharbour Ash Black with Birch White for highlights.
