Did my colorblindness whipe the group on Rakkath? - video

Today, I exploded my void in the middle of the group, and caused a whipe.
The addon from raid notifier notified me late, but that is not an excuse as I should be able to tell without the addons.

But here is the problem. Even after studying the video, I simply cannot see the void aoe under my feets. I am colorblind, and that might be why. Even tho it's a lot of other aoe abilities at the same place, other people say they can quite easy see that aoe. I'm mostly interested in hearing opinions from other colorblind players out there, if they can see this or not. I am not making this as an excuse, I really can't see it, even when pausing video.

I got a nice tip, about looking at the text saying "An unstable energy swells within you", that has nothing to do with the addon but ingame itself. I am gonna use that from now on, but I'm still interested in what others can see, specially colorblind players. Does other MMO's have colorblind modes, and do they work?

I'm not colorblind, and I had to watch the vid a few times to see what moment you were talking about exactly. The overlapping Grothdarr procs and all that red made the red circle incredibly difficult to spot.

Try reducing the particle count and turning off the bloom visual effect. All that extra stuff tends to distract me from the more important mechanics of fights.

Yes. You can see it. From :25 in, to about :29 the expanding circle is visible under your feet.
Granted, you are stacked with other AoEs and colorblind, so I have no doubt that you genuinely didn't see it and wouldn't necessarily fault you for it, other than cautioning you to be more mindful of it.

And yes you can simply use the text tool tip.

I actually used to run trials with a teammate who was also colorblind, and one of our healers used to tell him when he was standing in red.

It's what others non colorblind players told me as well, which is abit frustrating, since it looks for you guys that I'm drunk and not focused or something hehe.

I am not color blind but I could not see anything under your feet. Watched twice, on a phone.

But I noticed the text instantly. I would use that as the indicator.

I could see it in the video, but with two Grothdarr's going off at once in the same spot, I'm not sure I'd have seen it either in real time.

To be fair, a few people like to say don't stand in stupid. Sometimes, though, it's very difficult to see that stupid. I'm not colour blind, but even I have great difficulty seeing some red circles at times due to the amount of aoes.

Oh yeah, all of your groups AoEs were blocking it out. Too many flame Blockades and Grothdarr procs. It wasn't your fault.

It's weird that this has such an easy fix and ZOS has ignored it for years. Most games have a colorblind option in the settings.

I'd say maybe. I have colorblindness issues when certain skill effects overlap; especially in rooms that have that blue/purple hue to them. I have team members often call out to me when there is red under me that I probably can't see. That really helps a lot.

I really really wish this game had a colorblind mode.

*Edit to change "likely" to "maybe" since others who aren't colorblind are saying it was difficult to see in either case.

OP, it isn't your colorblindness that much. I'm not colorblind and yet it took me several video replays to see the red circle. With Grothdarr procs + Blockade of Fire it's very hard to see s**t. I totally would have been in your shoes in this situation. Heck, I have been in your shoes

Grothdarr procs + Blockade of Fire has killed many and will kill many more. You just got unlucky with timing. Please, please, don't feel bad, it really happens to everyone

I'm not some super amazing PvE guy but I wiped a few times in PvE because I'm color blind. I literally could not see the red AoE if it goes on green ground. An option to change AoE color would be nice

Wouldn't hurt to have a controller rumble for effects like this that could cause a group wipe.

Ah thanks all for nice words, it helped alot Felt so bad after this, don't want to blame colorblind 100% either, but nice to hear others non colorblind also had problems.

You don't have to be colorblind to be blinded by all the effects spam.

Not colorblindness. More like tunnel-vision ("An unstable energy swells within you" message ignored for 5+ seconds, lol) thus relying on Raid-Notifier sound too much (somehow, it was played later than usual). I'm also pretty sure you're perfectly aware of all of this. High-five for having the balls to play with publicly. The blue ones that explooooode when hold for too long.
