Best option for new player

marc.lafontemdub17_ESO
Hi all,

I was thinking of picking up ESO during the steam sale and was researching the best option to maximize my experience without being redundant from a price standpoint.

Is it best to:

A) get the gold edition which looks like it includes all of the dlc (except 1 which I think is 1500 crowns) and buy crowns for the last Dlc?

B) buy the base game, subscribe, have access to all the dlc, and net a few crowns monthly with the crafting bag benefit?

C) Purchase gold edition (I currently don't own the game) and subscribe monthly?

Thank you for the feedback.

If I was a new player looking at buying the game now I'd go for A - buy the Gold Edition and the last DLC separately.

I'm not bothered about the other perks that come with subscribing and without that it works out as much better value to just buy the DLC (especially now when we know there won't be any new DLC coming until several months after Morrowind is released, and that's not coming until June).

But if you're interested in the other perks as well and you can count on playing regularly subscribing can be a good choice. You could always use your subscription crowns to buy the DLC so you'll still have access if you drop your sub later. Unless you're really into collecting costumes, mounts and pets you'll probably find subscribing leaves you with more crowns than you know what to do with.

Gold edition is just $10 more right now on PC. I would definitely go that route and not worry about the dungeons DLC or subbing for now. By owning, you are not locked in to a sub. You can always or unsub as it makes sense.

A is best choice, for sure.

    Additionally...

DLC tend to have reduced prices during their anniversary. So that dungeon DLC not included in the mega bundle (Shadows of the Hist) will likely be discounted in August.

If you buy discounted crowns now (this sale ends today I think) and sit on them until August, you might be able to pick that one up extra cheap.

I wouldn't sub just for the crowns as you can buy crowns for less than they are on sale. Last I checked Gold Edition was $30 but if its on sale for $20 then that's well worth it. I haven't played Orsinium yet but Dark Brotherhood and Thieve's Guild have great content and I enjoy popping into Imperial City now and then.
I don't always drink Skooma, but when I do I go to the Southwall Corner Club. May you walk on warm sands my friends.

I'd get the DLCS with the Gold Edition. The new content is great (particularly Orsinium), and by the time you spend all that time and effort going through all the main quests in the DLCs, you won't want to lose them again if you decide to unsubscribe.

My original plan was to play through the base game and get a feel for it, and then get the dlc as I moved on to make sure I enjoyed it. After a week of playing and constantly having to decide if certain mats were worth keeping, I had to sub for the bag. I'm a mat hoarder.

You don't lose any time or effort if you unsubscribe.

You keep all of the extra skill points and achievements. You just can't access those DLC areas any more.

So you could subscribe for one month, do all the DLC content on all of your characters, and unsub. All you lose access to are the daily quests and crafting set stations.

I started last Sunday I think, and bought a bunch of crowns on sale to sit on. Bought the mount and thinking of getting the island.. not sure what to do with the rest but I'll eventually figure it out.

I don't plan on subscribing because I don't mind the bag management too much.

If you are a self confessed mat hoarder, then it won't be long before you subscribe for the bottomless crafting bag.
