Can We Please Talk About Default Mount Speed?

Seriously, you spend money or crowns on one of these mounts, and they run slower than you can. How does this make sense? Im pretty sure a giant wolf, horse or bear could outrun a human and it seems ridiculous that it doesn't at least offer some speed benefit right off the bat. In fact unless you spend crowns of training scrolls, it takes quite a long time for the mount to become worth the trouble of pushing whatever hotkey you have assigned to it.

Might be a hold over from the days of the old mounts which started with 10 in a stat already.

However yes, I generally don't bother with my mount and just run until they're up to speed.

Agree. Ive thought about creating toons and leveling horses ahead of time, but the game updates would make this impossible because what you think maay be a good idea today will be trash tomorrow.

An horse feeding character is an character who you plan to use on an later time but now only level horse, else act as an bank alt. Only set thing is look and race.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Yes, however this is making an NB just because you might want an NB sometime,
if not you wasted 60K on having and fast horse on an bank alt.
Racial passives will probably get nerfed some time but is unlikely to be swapped around.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

60 upgrades to speed and they run fast. Riding lessons can be obtained from the crown store for an instant increase in speed.

I find the speeds become bearable when the mount hits the 20 mark in the speed category. But even then, only just barely. 30 and up is a bit more comfortable, but nothing beats that feeling you get when you're sprinting at full pelt + Rapids across Cyro.

I like the funny and harmless mounts. Seems like in this game most players like the undead firebreathng razor clawed dagger teeth mounts. Some are a bit silly.

Make more of the funny harmless mounts besides horses and I will keep purchasing.

    It's 60 for each category.

Getting a full 60/60/60 though is a pain in the ass... x.x (Without the crowns riding lesson packs).

    I understand your pain OP.

I don't mind the gold sink that is having to level up the riding skill in this thing, but I really wish they would allow us to do it whenever we want and all at once if we have the gold for it rather than doing it daily. I refuse to pay their prices in the crown store for the lessons.
Far too many characters to list any more.

What I find ridiculous is that for every new character you have to feed your mount for 180 days or ... buy it with real money that is not cheap.

It doesn't. It's a clump of holdovers from previous ways of doing things that add up to a wad of frustrating suck.

Classes that don't need any class ability nerfs: Nightblades, Dragonknights, Sorcs, Templars, Wardens.

I can stand the speed, at least with rapid maneuvers up.

However, what I cannot stand is my tiger stubbing its toes ON EVERY FREAKING BLADE OF GRASS. The movement over terrain needs to be fixed, it's so frustrating to try and ride to a fight in pvp but it takes twice as long because the mounts get caught up on the terrain every 2 seconds.

While you're riding your mount through the newb areas I'll be picking up those sweet sweet mats faster than you can dismount. mounts in pve are just decoration. That said, I like a little bling which is why I happily fleeced myself for an elk. :insert elk scream here:

They made getting a new horse slower then they were at launch and you wouldn't have to pay real money to use the horse. The time it takes to upgrade a horse without crowns is like a moble game.

What I really hate is that you need Rapid's from the alliance war on your skillbar at all times in order to achieve Fastest possible speed. Like the skill is useful in it's own way, but I really hate having to take up a skill lot in order to move around the word at top speed. They need to remove the buff it gives to horses and add that into the game and increase the base speed of the mounts.

Well then we shouldn't be able to ride them at all and instead spend several irl years gently coaxing them to adult hood. Or 50000 crowns.

Eh, even at starting speed, they let you sprint forever (outside combat) without draining your character's stamina.

(and how important is a full 60/60/60, anyway? It's not like that mount isn't useful at all before 180 days is up....)

IMO base riding speed should at least match base player sprint speed.

Sprinting on a mount with riding speed but not riding stamina will deplete the mount's stamina as does getting hit whilst riding.
