Radiant aura vs Ele drain

Is there any reason to ever run radiant? To the best of my knowledge the buff doesn't stack(ie ten mobs wont give u 4k mag/sec back) so as long as one in the group has ele drain you get basically the same effect while not sacrificing the repent morph plus the major breach you need sometimes for things tanks can't reach. Am I missing something?

In a group Pvp environment radiant aura drastically outperforms ele drain.

its got the same buff but I want the free healing for my Templar. Most dungeons I just use repentence.
Sorcerna, proud beta sorc. RIP April 2014 to May 31 2016 DArk Brotherhood. Out of retirement for negates and encases. Sorcerna will be going back into retirement to be my main crafter Fall 2018. Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

My magplar healer runs mostly solo and small groups. PvE only. EleDrain wins hands down. Even when I run radiant, I run it unmorphed to keep the range from taunting random ranged mobs that I don't want in the fight. I also like EleDrain because:
    - It is free.
    - It does not aggro anyone so you can 'paint' numerous foes before the fight even begins.
    - Debuffs.
    - Lasts longer.

If I started running a tight, polished group then I'd adjust to whatever the group leader wanted. So Radiant is in the 'toolbag' of developed but not normally slotted skills. Normally I only slot EleDrain to help magicka fighters (though I have Siphon, Radiant and Orbs available if required).

Funny, because when I've popped Radiant Aura in delves, I rarely draw mobs that are even a visible distance past the closest mob. On rare occasions does it attract excess mobs, normally it just draws the nearest. I've also used this in Public Dungeons and rarely draw excessive mobs. As my personal experience has shown, it can on occasion draw extra mobs but it's not as common as you make it sound... unless somehow the sewers are programmed differently than PvE delves and dungeons.

As a soloist, with my Templar I use ED on almost everything except Dark Anchors... there I switch to RA. For World Bosses I use Siphon Spirit. One of the great things about Magplar is their ability to go from DPS focused to random group healer in an instant. ;)

In pvp group setting, radiant is amazing. But for small scale or pve id say ele drain.

To make radiant on par. Youd have to make non aggressive so it didnt pull three rooms of mobs, and make it free to cast. That puts in more on par. Maybe increase the time to a flat amount as well? I dont know

So really speaking, Ele drain is free and debuffs armor. In trials and pledges there is no reason to use aura, you just need to ele drain the boss and let cleave take care of mobs. And on thrash pulls just hit a few of the mobs. Aura costs alot of magic, and I see waaay to many healers having to do heavy resto because they are running this skill and cannot magange magicka. I rather repentance by a mile for pve.

Would be good for a Templar tank, AOE taunt lol...

In PvP however, this skill is great on a healer, as you can take everyone and even Stam classes want mag back, for dark deal, igneous shield, cloak, purifies. It's GREAT in PvP.

I can't assume this is the case, but maybe make sure you aren't using Aura before the tank has a chance to hit something. It's very simple for me to trump Aura in aggro on my tank with a single skill, but doesn't do any good if the healer is trying to race me to the finish. Just wait a second or two, then drop it.

I've tried both radiant and ele drain in small scale, unless you're just Xv1 bursting pugs radiant aura is better, sometimes you can't make sure you've got damage on the right target or that ele drain hits who you intend. When its 3v10 and you're trying to keep group support buffs up there's no comparison, you can't keep the person you ele drain from just hiding behind his friends and then you're denied sustain and the major breach is irrelevant.

Ele drain is better for solo though and templar needs that damage.

I've been using Radiant lately and it definitely does have some weird agro issues. For example remember that big trash pull in icp, upstairs right before Abomination room? And then there's also another pull, one with hoarvor, downstairs from it, right before the boss?

I used Radiant as the tank pulled the mobs upstairs...and in 10 seconds we also got the mobs from DOWNSTAIRS. I've never seen that happen before, only thing I can think of that'd cause it would be Radiant(which doesn't actually make sense because Radiant's range isn't that huge plus it's supposed to cap at 6 targets I think but it draws ago from all the things). I thought mobs would deagro after having moved do much but nope, ended up killing them all upstairs lol.

It also extremely consistently pulls all the things in WGT, including the trash packs people normally skip. It's not an agro priority issue there, it's an agro...initiation?..one.
