[QUESTION] A quick, easy question regarding Armor Dyes:

I'm trying for a very specific look for my Main, but I'm having trouble finding the right Dye.

Does anyone know of a dye, that makes the metal parts of armor have a mirror-like shine like chrome does to steel? Does that even exist as an option in ESO, and if so, what is the name of the Armor Dye?

Thank you for your time.

The Shine comes more from the level of Improvement than the Dye. There are several Steel and other Metal shades to choose from, but none are "mirror like". The best you can do to create a polished metal looks is something like Windhelm Steel (or Silver?) on Legendary Gear. There are a few shades like that if the Steel is not the right hue for you. Hey, that rhymed.

I do know that some lower level armors like L40 (I forget the material used) have a much shinier look to them. In fact, my L6 improved to Blue was pretty shiny, it probably would get better at higher levels of improvement, but who is going to do that on L6 gear?

I think the biggest issue technically, is, if it was mirror like, then they would have to render the reflections in the armor like they do with the water. Probably create a lag fest.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I use Celestial violet on Heavy armor a lot, gives it a really shiny metal color, for some reason this "violet" is not violet at all on metal. Try it.

I think Adamantine Silver might do a neutral chrome, (achievement dye for vDSA) I'm not at home but will check when I get back. There are several dyes that have a "shine" or a "sheen" to them though. But like Nestor mentioned, the material is usually what is going to provide this effect. Some racial styles (and level of racial styles) will work better than others.

That's more what I was looking for, the neutral Chrome shine. Kind of like a highly polished chromed bumper.

I'm using the Polished Steel one right now, but I was wanting more of that neutral chrome look that you mentioned.

If it is possible, if you could hop back on here and let me know, that would be very helpful. :)

Some dyes are metallic/opalescent. If put on metal they're shinier than others. Unfortunately, none of the guides (ESO fashion, Tamriel Foundry) lists which, so it'll be trial and error. Their names aren't evident either. Like the one you get for closing 100 anchor pinons sounds like a purple or blue, then it's metallic and weird. That's the only I remember specifically.

Adamantine Silver: Bright and reflects well. Slightly grey coloring. Dullest of the chromes. I believe this is the dye you are looking for.

Mundus Blue: Brighter than Adamantine Silver, but noticeable bluish tint.

Celestial Violet: Brightest of the chromes (that I have so far) noticeable but not displeasing red tint

Warrior Steel: (My favorite) Carbon Fiber Chrome look. Very shiny but a darker looking dye than Celestial Violet.

I've got to figure out how to host images for this. For real. My description of Warrior Steel just isn't doing it justice.
