Returning player, a few questions

Edremis
Edremis
I was thinking about returning to ESO and try to bring some friends here but I have a few questions before.

First of all, I have never got a character above lvl 30~40 and that was before One Tamriel so I have no idea about the actual endgame content. So about the endgame I have 2 questions:

- I like to play mainly PvP, how is Cydoriil? I read it's better than before, being more stable and less unbalanced (non-CP campains at least) but I would like to know more details about it. Is the PvP population healthy?
- My friends come mainly from WoW and I was wondering if they would enjoy the endgame content here in the long run. How enjoyable is the PvE-endgame here for semicasual players in the long run?

About DLCs, how "forced" (I know I'm not) I will be to buy DLC in order to fully enjoy PvE and PvP content? I mean, for PvE, is there enough content without DLCs? And for PvP, do I need gear from DLC content to stay competitive or do I need the imperial city DLC to play the main PvP activity?

About bank items, are they shared between all characters no matter the alliance (without ESO plus)?

And finally about classes/gameplay, are DoTs and HoTs viable/relevants in PvP or burst damage/heal > all except for 1v1?

Thank you in advance!

The populations are all healthy. TF is the most active, followed by AZ then the others. I don't do any PVE end game except to grind for gear and I already hate PVE, so you don't wanna know my opinion.

If theres a set you need that's DLC, I don't think you can get it. There's only a few DLC content, I've always had DLC, but Im sure you could enjoy it without. I don't think theres any DLC for Cyrodill, there's a new PVP mode coming out with Morrowind that'll be something you'd have to pay for. But that's not till June.

    Yes

Almost everything is relevent in PVP! Tanks, healers, gankers, DPS, tanky DPS, 1vXers, large zerging, etc. You can get any type of game-play you want in Cyrodill, there's small groups, large groups, the 1vXers elitists. I know the most about pvp, so feel free to ask more.

    Thank you in advance!

Let me say something in terms of pve then.

The pve scene has slowed down abit for the raiders as right now, there are limited raids. But, for the journey to raiding though, the dungeons themselves have veteran versions (which is quite similar to Heroic in wow) and most of the dungeons have second versions with different bosses and different routes within the same dungeon to the last boss. The usual gearing process is - overland bosses, delves, dolmens - normal dungeon - normal dungeon v2 - vet dungeon - vet dungeon v2 - trials.

There is also a solo, gauntlet style of pve that's called the maelstrom arena, which you can pit your skills against. It's Considered as the pinnacle in solo play as it is one of the hardest content in the game.

While you may not acquiesced with me, I highly recommend the eso plus. The game unlocks for you with all the dlcs and also the crafting bag. You also get better experience gains with the sub. Ultimately though, I understand the constraints of having a few games under sub so do find out more about the eso plus before making the purchase.

The beauty of one tamriel now is that the areas in the zones are now quite busy and very healthy to the point of lag in some of the more popular zones. This is a good sign of healthy population albeit it will get laggy at peak playing times.

    Hope this helps!

    DLCs:

    Content:

Play the game to see if you like it, then maybe invest in DLCs. The gold edition contains four...buying a new disc can be the cheapest option, like $20. If you pvp a lot you might want Imperial City. It adds a massive pvp area that can be quite fun. But a lot of people...myself included...would be fine playing free and easy topside Cyrodiil all the time.

    Dlc and gear:

Gear that drops in DLC zones is unbound, so it can be sold and bought in guild stores. There are not that many sets that are considered excellent that drop in DLCs. Most are trash. But if you ever needed one, they're in the stores.

Sets that drop in 4 person group dungeons are Bind on Pickup. They are not available in guild stores. Therefore, you would not have access to sets that drop in the 4 DLC dungeons: Cradle of Shadows, Ruins of Mazzatan, Imperial City Prison and White Gold Tower. There are not really any "must haves" in these sets.

You would not have access to Maelstrom Arena sets without Wrothgar. There are some decent sets in here, particularly maelstrom weapons, but nothing you can't get around.

You would not have access to Maw of Lorkhaj sets without Thieves Guild. Some decent sets here, but again nothing that doesn't have a close substitute.

    Set guide:

    http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Sets

But in general, you will not miss out on any must-have sets for playing, especially pvp. The best pvp sets usually are earned by playing pvp.

    Thank you for you answers!

I have another doubt now about trading guilds/crafting.

Excluding how trading works here, what is it the difference between ESO and WoW crafting? I mean, in WoW (at least previous exps) there isn't anything you could sell "in the long term" (yes... I like to ignore new players) because eventually everyone will have it. I'm talking about mounts, subpar sets and glyphs.

Here, do players need a steady supply of something they are willing to buy but they aren't likely to farm for themselves? And what about PvP players? They need to buy something? (Not talking about sets because you only need to buy it once).

Potions, poisons and food/drinks are always needed and can't really be farmed
